I was scouted for my position based off my great service to the company on a project. Actually, from the trend in this thread it should be "don't let Romney hear you say that."Don't let Obama hear you say that.

That's the right attitude. I wouldn't have finished in 4 if I'd know what was waiting out here.Seahawks08 wrote:Just taking my time...girls, sleeping late, partying, and football. Don't want it to end!Ah yes, the good ol' 6 year plan.

Re: Are you better off today?
Yes,
1. I finished paying off my student loan this year.
2. Wife was promoted 2 years ago and her earnings have almost doubled
3. I took a new position that was a direct result of Obama Care incentives for electronic health records. 7 years ago a position like the one I'm currently in was essentially non-existent. Now it is high demand. It came with a significant salary increase. Downside is that it comes with a much higher stress rate and a 40 hour work week is a distant memory.
For now the answer is a definite yes, but ask me this question again in 6 months after my department's post merger restructuring is complete. I may have a different answer.

Home value went down, gas and groceries went up. Hassle going through the Canadian border. Rich have gotten poorer and so have the poor. Internet sales are down in quantity and the price I can get for items.

Pretty sure that's how it works in Denmark...toiling under their oppressive yoke of socialism...also California before Reagan came along.Bison Fan in NW MN wrote:Ya....then 'someone' else can send my 2 daughters to college....clenz wrote: Someone else did that for you...you didn't.

I worked 35 hrs/week to put myself thru college; it was tough and wouldn't trade the experience for anything. It would have been awesome to have a 'free' education provided by the gov but IMO, the US is way too large to even consider having something like this.

You may be right, but not everyone needs to go to college. But providing at least more financial assistance if not a free education is a very good investment. Intellectual infrastructure is important too.

Re: Are you better off today?
Maybe it's different in Washington, but a lot of min wage people I know are looking for work, and are getting turned down by employers for younger people. One company layed off nearly half their work force this year, approx 100 people, jobs that looked promising under the government bailout, that ended up being temporary.kalm wrote:Gil Dobie wrote:Rich have gotten poorer and so have the poor.
