#15 App St at #2 Georgia Southern Game Thread

Post by 93henfan »

Looking forward to attending my first game at Paulson, first SoCon game, and what a matchup this should be.

5dimes has Georgia Southern as an 8 pt favorite right now, but this game is very important for App St., sitting at 6 D-I wins with GSU and Furman remaining. The Eagles need the win to keep a seed. You'd hope a loss to Georgia in the final week wouldn't impact seeding, but they need to take care of business here. The SoCon auto is also at stake with both GSU and Woff with just one SoCon loss (though Woff's was to GSU).

Weather is supposed to be perfect: upper 70s, sunny.

Let's get it on.

I won't divulge my rooting interest, other than to say I really hate App State.

Check the record....this is a game where you throw the W/L out the window. Never been to Paulson because I value my life, but I'd like to go for a neutral game. GaSo will get their yards, I just hope they're between the 20's. App should be able to exploit the passing D of GaSo if App's O line can give JJ time. I'd say we're like the Chatty team except a better offense. I'm expecting a shootout, and I don't give predictions. Just remember - GaSo was #1, undefeated last year against a younger version of this defense in Boone and we held them to 135 yds below their rushing average to that point. We're giving up yards this year, so who knows.......

BTW 93 - if we ever meet, you can finish off our Bud Light while I'm downing Dogfishead IPAs. :coffee:

I went by Paulson today but I'm waiting to take pics until tomorrow. Paulson is one of those sunken stadiums, unlike The Tub. The tailgating area looks very well organized. Some campers were already there. Looking forward to tomorrow!

Hopefully, some time in the future, you'll be able to visit Missoula, and see a game in Washington/Grizzly, 93!

If you're lucky enough to make a trip like this, DO NOT expect to spend any quality time with the Grizo!

He's a big fan of GSU, but he loves the Mountaineers, and their fan base! He doesn't/will not tolerate those that think differently! ;) :kisswink:

I used to love you Grizo, but now you're nothing to me. We can't even be friends if you cannot accept me for the App State hater that I am.

I'm nothing to you now? I call bologna & fiddlesticks on your emotional outburst! But, I understand where you're coming from, and I'm willing to work with you, to get through something that should be saved.

I think our relationship is repairable, but it's gonna' take A LOT of work...mostly on your part.

No. This is Paulson. Having two Delaware people there will raise....

Wait. I'm not making any Paulson jokes until I'm headed back north on I-95!

But seriously, having a great time down here. Beautiful campus, great looking stadium, and friendly people (App fans may disagree  ). What's not to like?

T-Dog is awesome! The guy knows how to write!

FWIW, I found the rest of App State's fan base to possess the same amount of awesomeness as T-Dog... :twocents:

Enjoyed meeting with 93, BTK, Baldy, blueballs, Eaglesrus, and all of my GSU tailgate hosts today. Also ran into T-Dog again, and was impressed by his knowledge of all things App. Disappointing result, but good acquaintances renewed. :thumb:

This game did not aid in my rehabilitation. I only hate App State more now.

As a third party observing, the palpable hate and discontent between these two SoCon fan bases is remarkable. BTK's seats were looking right down at the dividing line between the visiting fan section and the home fans. I thought a Gangs of New York style pick-your-weapon-of-slaughter type brawl could break out, especially after the refs called back GSU's miraculous first down conversion with two minutes left and then the drive failed. I saw a bunch of App fans start shit talking, and then I saw various pieces of debris being thrown at them.

It was fucking cool.

On a serious note though, having met T-Dog makes it tougher to hate App State. Something about T-Dog just exudes "yo, chill out and relax". So, you sort of just chill out and relax. I mean, I was about to say App State Su.... And then T-Dog introduces himself and I thinking about how App State isn't so bad. It was like a weird Dr. Spock positive mind meld thing. Now that I'm outside his realm of influence, I can just begin to start talking about App hate again.
