Re: #3 MSU @ #26 SAC
SH's opinion having seen the game live (not that it means much):
I'm really bumming right now. What you all say is correct (Safron with the overthrows, the blown call in the end zone, the fluky punt dealie, etc.), but for me, the takeaway is a couple of decisions that come back on Sperbeck:
1. The Cal Poly-like decision to go for it on fourth down early instead of taking the FG.
2. The inexplicable decision to use a kicker NOT named Edgar Castaneda to kick a FG to extend the lead in the fourth.
Either one of those would have put the game into OT, and BOTH would have won the game without OT despite the quirky way in which the game ended.
That said, I think we still have a chance IF we do something next week that I generally can't stomach: running up the score on UCD. I'm not sure that that will help very much, but it seems to me the ONLY shot we have now despite having a B(C)$ win, a win over #11, and a VERY close loss to #3. We HAVE to have a blowout and nothing short of that. In fact, it might have to look like what Weber and PSU did to ISU, and even then it might not be enough. Tonight was our real chance, and Sperbeck blew it....

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

I just got a bunch of PM's from cats2506 telling me that I should not bitch about the the refs.
There, now you can legitimately call me a dick 2506 for outing you instead of calling me a dick in the PM's by refuting your ridiculous assertions.

She gets a little testy this time of year, when she realizes her team is a paper tiger and is going to get embarrassed in the playoffs again.

So SD, are you willing to admit that the 2010 game should have never gone into OT, had the refs not GIVEN SAC a TD that was fumbled into the endzone and should have been a touchback, MSU ball on the 20.
BTW the conference confirmed all of this after the game, as I am sure they will the blown TD call yesterday

Sounds like EWU game in Bozeman where Cats dominated but lost because of turnovers.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:That's because they were. I don't give a sh!t about the 2010 game. I'm here to discuss yesterday's game.cats2506 wrote:So SD, are you willing to admit that the 2010 game should have never gone into OT, had the refs not GIVEN SAC a TD that was fumbled into the endzone and should have been a touchback, MSU ball on the 20.

Simple question, those additional 4 points that were taken off the scoreboard had no impact on the game? A "yes" or "no" is all that is required. I'll wait.

Keep in mind my quote above was after a little back and forth. There is plenty of context to go with that, don't try and spin this like that was my only response.cats2506 wrote:SDHornet wrote:I just got a bunch of PM's from cats2506 telling me that I should not bitch about the the refs.

Oh and cats, you don't have to lump all Sac fans into this, keep this solely pointed at me. Unlike you I can deal with it on these boards and not go running behind some PM's.

None at all, it was early in the game, IF SAC had gotten the TD MSU would have scored 7 instead of playing conservative
SO the fact that BSC refs are incompetent in other games is not relevant to bad calls in this game

A "yes" or "no" was all that was required. I guess you are the one that is challenged. So you go on to say that those 4 points had no impact on the game then go on to say the play calling would have been completely different.cats2506 wrote:SDHornet wrote: I'll respond after you answer my simple question above.

Look, it is quite obvious that all we had to do was change up our playcalling to avoid your coaches stealing signals too score, checkout the 4th quarterSDHornet wrote:A "yes" or "no" was all that was required. What trap. Kirk is a stud and there is no doubting that. MSU was held to 2 TD's and 2 FG's and we were held to only 3 TD's...or 2 I guess.cats2506 wrote:No excuses, just waiting for SD to jump on this one to slam the trapScreamin_Eagle174 wrote:Look at all the excuse making by 2506 in this thread. Spin this however you want, but to sit there and say that call had no impact on the game is absurd. Like I told you in the PM's and on multiple posts, MSU is a good team and they have great balance but to have a good game like this heavily impacted by the refs is just sad.
Go ahead and blast me all you want cats, it's what you do best. I'm heading to the harbor for brunch and then I've got some work to get done. Have a good day.

But you can't argue that 4 points would have no effect on a game decided by 3 points for the other team. The rest of your points are valid, but when a team has 4 points taken of the board and then loses by 3 it has a huge effect on the game. Maybe not the final outcome, MSU might have won anyway, but it sounds like SAC fans have a legit complaint.

4 points in the first quarter, would make a difference in the playcalling of the time between then and the 4th quarter.BlueHen86 wrote:I didn't see the game and I didn't see the play in question.cats2506 wrote:

You can't say that everything would play out the same had that call been made correctly, the whole situation changes, hell we may have used the fake punt they were giving us all game had they scored those 4 points, or used the huddle in more than 1 drive.
ALL BSC teams have legit complaints about the reffing, they are that bad

I don't dispute anything that you posted above, but you can't deny that the 4 points wouldn't have helped SAC.cats2506 wrote:4 points in the first quarter, would make a difference in the playcalling of the time between then and the 4th quarter.BlueHen86 wrote:

The argument here should be between SAC fans and the refs. If the refs blew a call there is no reason for MSU fans to come to their aid. MSU won, that outcome won't be changed and there is nothing wrong with admitting that you might have had a little help from the refs. MSU didn't do anything wrong there is no need to make rationalizations.
Re: #3 MSU @ #26 SAC
I have admitted that the refs blew the call, they blew many more too, that affected the game, some of those calls killed MSU drives that may have added points to our side, to win in the BSC you have to overcome bad reffing (its a fact) SAC was unable to do that, MSU was able to do that.BlueHen86 wrote:I don't dispute anything that you posted above, but you can't deny that the 4 points wouldn't have helped SAC.cats2506 wrote:

Dont blame the game on the refs, blame it on 4 turnovers if anything, a couple of those were key in the 4th quarter and had a much larger impact on the game than a blown call in the 1st quarter.
