NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – After capturing a share of its first regular season title, Saint Louis is the top seed for the 2012 Atlantic 10 Conference Baseball Championship, to be held May 23-26 at Fordham’s Houlihan Park in Bronx, N.Y.

The first three days of competition, May 23-25, can be viewed live via webstream on the Atlantic 10’s online home -- http://www.atlantic10.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; -- free of charge. Saturday's championship game will begin at Noon on March 26 and will be televised live nationally on CBS Sports Network, while the “if necessary” game of the 2012 event will be shown via the A-10’s live webstream.

AVCA Division I Coaches 2012 Preseason Poll:

LEXINGTON, Ky. - For the 47th consecutive time, the University of Dayton received votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 Poll.

In the preseason poll, Dayton's 42 votes are the 28th highest total. UD's streak of receiving votes dates back to Nov. 23, 2009.

Dayton, which will return 11-of-12 players for next season, opens the 2012 campaign against two teams nationally ranked in the preseason.

A-10 Announces Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams


NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Nationally-ranked VCU’s Jason Johnson was named the 2012 Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Year, while Xavier’s Nick Hagglund and Charlotte’s Donnie Smith were tabbed the league’s Defensive and Midfielder of the Year, respectively, in voting conducted among the Conference’s 16 head coaches.

In the same vote, Temple’s Jared Martinelli was honored as Rookie of the Year and Mike McGinty of Saint Louis was selected as Coach of the Year.

Butler Women's Team, Three Individuals
Qualify for NCAA Championship


NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Butler's women's cross country team and three other Atlantic 10 individual runners earned a berth to the NCAA Championships with their performances in Friday's Regionals. Temple's Travis Mahoney, Duquesne's Jim Spisak and Meghan McGlinchey all qualified for the national race as individuals.

The NCAA Championship will be run at E.P. Sawyer State Park on Nov. 17 in Louisville, Ky.
