Post by 93henfan »

UGA just returned a blocked FG to go up 21-10 on Bammer, late 3rd.

What a boring game. I turned it off at halftime.

Meanwhile, my cousin plays the trumpet for UGA and I saw her as the camera panned over the band. Very cool. :thumb:

Man. Real boneheaded decision not to spike the ball by UGA.

UGA went 80 yards in one minute, culminating in a pass to the 8 with about 12 seconds left, down four points. Could have spiked and had two shots at the end zone. Instead they thought they'd be clever and run a play. They passed for three yards and the clock ran out.

Dumb.

Danielsen gave the QB an out, but agreed that the ball should have been killed. He thought the idea might have been a back-shoulder throw to a different 'Dawg at the goal line near the pylon, but the ball was tipped. At that point, the RB near the ball SHOULD have batted it down, allowing GA another shot. But catching it was a natural reaction, and at that point, the game was over. He MIGHT have found a way to get out of bounds with one tick or so left, but he slipped.

You're right, though, 93. It SHOULD have been clocked. I'm not sure that should be on Richt, though maybe he should have apprised Murray of the possibility during that replay timeout. It was probably just Murray being only a junior, too young to know any different. As fans, we might be expecting 10-year NFL veteran awareness out of a 22-year-old kid.

The man can't even sit down from being in the hot seat. Georgia fans are clamoring for a BCS title. And until Richt gets them there...he's always under threat of getting canned. Even after getting to the SEC title game. Dawgs fans will say that he choked away a 4th quarter lead and didn't have control of the situation at the end of the game.
MEAC, last one out turn off the lights.

What was one of the best games ever, ended on a jackass, dumbshit play. Every player on the offense should lose their scholarship and the OC should be drawn and quartered. :dunce:

That was unforgivably bad play-calling. Inexcusable.

Huh :? 32-28. Saw great defense in the 1st half, great offense in the 2nd. Great smashmouth offense by Bama, UGA more passing, over 900 yds total offense. UGA stopped inside the Bama 5 yd line on the last play of the game. One of the best games I've seen all season.

I suspect Richt made a tactical decision to try to run a play without givng Alabama a chance to change personnel and set up on defense. I think I saw the Georgia QB telling the team he was going to clock it. But then he looked to the sideline and I think he got different instructions.

It really might not have been a bad strategy. But the ball got tipped. That's what did it. The QB was trying to throw it to the guy just across the goal line near the sideline but it got tipped and unfortunately (as well as understandably) the RB caught it. Had the ball not been tipped they'd have probably either scored on the play (though the Alabama guy was right there on coverage so the receiver would've had to have made a play) or they'd have had their second shot at the end zone on the next play.

Just tough luck. People are sticking their hands up every play and maybe once in every 50 times or so the ball gets tipped. It just so happened it got tipped right then.

Having said all that I thought they' were going to clock the ball and as a person pulling for Georgia that's what I would've liked to have seen them do.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Yes, it was. Spike the ball and you get TWO chances at the endzone. Anyway you slice it, this was one of the biggest 2 minute drill blunders of all time.

UGA played better than ppl thought they would but still wound up losing 32-28.They just ran out of time they should have thrown the ball into the end zone.
