Bohl rumored to take Wisconsin job

Post by D1B »

He'd be a perfect fit, IMO.

In its second stunning hiring this year, Arkansas tabbed Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema to take over a program that went into a tailspin after former coach Bobby Petrino was fired for hiring his mistress to work in the athletic department.

The Razorbacks released a statement Tuesday night saying Bielema will leave the Badgers after seven seasons. The announcement came minutes after he met with players at Wisconsin, and he'll be introduced at an afternoon news conference in Fayetteville on Wednesday.

This is the type of job offer it would take to get him out of Fargo, as I don't believe he would leave for some half ass program in a half ass conference. I think he would be perfect for Wisconsin as well, but I don't believe they will be smart enough to hire him. (at least I hope not) :D

Is there credibility to this 'rumor' or did you just start it?

Wisconsin didn't have good luck with the last Bison coach they hired, so I doubt Bohl is on their list.

Best chance is a current FBS coach or coordinator.

They had great success with Morton. His failures led to Barry Alverez. (How's that for spin?)

I could word it as NON-FBS coach they hired to make it mutually exclusive. :coffee:

I talk with a lot of Wisconsin fans, and none have good things to say about hiring outside of FBS.

D1B isn't the only one who has said Bohl is a fit....people who don't know this site exist have mentioned him as well.

Might be pulling from the fact that he was LB Coach at UW back in 1987-88.

I'd rather have Klieman leave than Bohl...

I've seen what Bohl did with him, and without him.

Bohl, I'm not scared of.

Um....you ever heard of Scottie Hazelton? Klieman is just running his defense...

We've only had one bad DC...Breske. Heck Gus Bradley is the D-Cord of one of the NFL's best defenses....crazy that not too long ago he was running our defense. Bohl has a knack of hiring some very solid defensive coaches.

That said, I think Wisconsin could very likely hire Darrell Bevell, O-Cord of the Seattle Seahawks and a former Badger QB.

I honestly don't get why he was so bad at NDSU. :?

His Montana 2010 and 2011 defenses were some of the best we've had in years. Was it the personnel just not fitting or what?

Not to mention his 2000-02 Griz teams and most of his Wyoming teams.

Breske zone-blitz-based scheme fits better in leagues that pass a decent amount, though, and the MVFC is definitely not that.
