...by making a self-proclaimed declaration that since the Republicans had "underqualified" nominees, that justifies Obama's underqualified nominee...

:silly:

...this sounds a great deal like your "defense" about the Obama Fascism policy...

...attack the critic, without responding to the criticism...

...wake up, Jon...

Neither I, or for that matter most conservatives, were ever foolish enough (like you re: the Dems) to attempt blanket defenses of Bush or his incompetence...Bush was what he was...a bad President who made bad decisions.

And that doesn't justify Obama's being an incompetent moron...

...or your being a knee jerk ideologue...

Watching D-back completely decimate T-man today has been a joy to behold...
And what adds to the humor (immensely) is that T-man cannot admit that 8 years of Bush as the decision maker was a giant cluster fork... and so he is forced to defend what is essentially indefensible...

Even Rush Limbaugh knew Bush was an idiot and very rarely defended him...

But here we have the frothy mouthed crazy eyed T-man
like a wolf in a bear-trap spit and foam flying everywhere...!!!

Good stuff, thanks Jon (you can't pay for sh!t this good)
I know I know D-back, you're just here to keep us entertained - but today was special - again thanks

Equally hilarous is donks' insistence that there's nothing WRONG with choices like this, because BUSH did it.

Criminy, Hippie...are you drinking early today? You have to be because you sure as hell haven't read anything I've written!

Bush has nothing to do with this...

Rush has nothing to do with this...

Obama's pick is yet another trainwreck...

And the Dumby Donks are too proud to admit another vetting folly!

...just about anyone of these individuals outside of Barnum, Stackley and McNair (admin specialists) would probably be more qualified than Mabus. My personal selection would be Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Roughead...who I'd wager understands the mission and long term strategic plans, and is high enough to understand budgeting and how to navigate the political maze.

Having someone of his caliber having to answer to a political hack/bozo like Mabus is an insult.

An admiral or the CNO would have to retire from the military to take the job... Think they'd want to do that for a sub-cabinet level position?

The Secretary of the Navy, Army, etc. is a civilian position.

The Secretaries of the Army and Air Force are both Republicans with... 3 years of service in the military COMBINED.

Considering that there are 87 more Admirals than are authorized by Congress...and the safe money is that some of those Admirals will be retiring the next few years...or maybe one of the 300 Admirals and Generals who publicly endorsed McCain...I suspect you could find a few who'd take the Sec. position...

...but if you don't like that list...

...how about one of top senior defense officials...

http://www.defenselink.mil/bios/

...a handful of civilians there and I'd suspect MOST of the folks there are more qualified than Mabus...

If you're trying to rule out finding someone more qualified than Mabus...we can continue until I get to the members of the local VFW hall...

...truth is, as I said in the beginning...there are thousands if not hundreds of thousands of individuals more qualified to serve as Sec. of Navy than Mabus.

I would imagine there are more than a few admirals. ready to retire from operations (a shooter, not a bean counter) and who might jump at the chance to be SecNav.

Well, out of 77 Secretaries of the Navy... 0 have been Admirals. There have only been a couple of former officers... and they had all been at least 10-15 years out of the service before becoming Secretary........... Noone has ever retired from the military to take a job as Secretary of the Navy.

Hep meh! Hep meh! Da boats sinkin!

Navy Secretary nominee secretly tapes meeting with priest and estranged wife during divorce...uses in court to obtain custody of kids...

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/30/us/po ... .html?_r=1
WASHINGTON — President Obama’s nominee for secretary of the Navy was involved in a divorce that drew national attention for his secret taping of a conversation between his wife and his family priest that he used against her in court proceedings...

"I (name), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. And willfully fuck over my family for my own personal gain. So help me God."
