Mark spoke of the Army being exceptionally good, not specifically the map, RKW. I merely gave a glaring counterexample.

It sounded like you were getting off topic....or trying to turn it into a Marines v. Army argument. My sole point was that the Battle of the Bulge has nothing to do with Okinawa. That's all.SuperHornet wrote:Mark spoke of the Army being exceptionally good, not specifically the map, RKW. I merely gave a glaring counterexample.

When was the last time Navy did't have a gold helmet?

I agree. But that is the only thing that you've posted on this thread that I agree with.SuperHornet wrote:While the Navy helmet isn't horrible, I'm not thrilled with it, either. It's too busy. The fouled anchor is awesome, but the rest of the helmet should be just white. There's too much on there as is to distract from the fouled anchor. The WWII map stuff on the Army uniforms is way too fine to be seen at a distance, and is therefore worthless. Undershirts are not generally seen, and are thus a waste of money; a simple t-shirt from the men's department would be sufficient. Additionally, I've NEVER liked that compression stuff. It's disgusting....
And ABOVE ALL get rid of those bogus Nike swooshes. When Nike gets involved, everything gets ruined; Oregon's unis are ample proof of that....

Read again numb nuts...ARMY FOOTBALL. Goddamn. Return your degrees, they are useless. Still, why being up Okinawa?SuperHornet wrote:Mark spoke of the Army being exceptionally good, not specifically the map, RKW. I merely gave a glaring counterexample.

In your case, I missed one word, Mark. It completely changed the tenor of what you said, and THAT was what I was responding to. Until RKW inserted his nose into that, anyway. From what you ACTUALLY wrote, you have a good case.Ibanez wrote:Read again numb nuts...ARMY FOOTBALL. Goddamn. Return your degrees, they are useless. Love it! Absolutely love both!
I'm a big fan of Orgeon's jerseys this year, but I think these are definitely my new favorites.

Gotta take issue with the spade on the back of the helmet. Only one regiment of the 101st used the spade. The other regiments used clubs, diamonds and hearts.Ibanez wrote:SDHornet wrote:Those Army uni's are fucking sweet.http://www.army.mil/article/92367/New_A ... hip_teams/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Commemorating the Battle of the Bulge, the Black Knights' uniforms will feature a map of the region in which the German offensive and Allied counteroffensive took place.
"From far away, it may look like just scribbled lines, but when you get up close you see the detail typography and unit identification and movements on the map, which makes this really unique," explained Nick Determan, the head equipment manager.
The map, emblazoned through the numbers on the jersey, will also be featured in the black stripe on the helmet, the detail on the gloves and on the sleeves of the uniform base layer, according to Determan.
There are also several other unique elements included in the uniform. The gold color featured on the helmets and uniform stripes is a throwback to the Army national championship teams of the 1940s. Also, the back of each helmet will feature a black spade, a symbol used by the Soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) during World War II and the Battle of the Bulge.

Of course, that's why I wrote. Again though, why'd you bring up Okinawa. So the Army didn't perform we'll in a battle. I submit to you the defeat of Nazi Germany at Normandy, Battle of the Bulge, Africa, Greece and Italy.SuperHornet wrote:In your case, I missed one word, Mark. Thanks for the double post, Mark.
From my jacked up reading of what you wrote, it sounded as if you thought the US Army was the be-all and end-all of combat organizations, so I figured I'd throw in a bit of failure just to show that they're not perfect.
Of course, one look at Grenada (yes, I know, not even REMOTELY related to WWII) would show that. (Actually, that was an all-services cluster-bleep, so the Army doesn't have to take all the blame for that one....)

I don't even know how you could have gotten that from what I said. With the word "football" removed, that idea couldn't be implied.SuperHornet wrote:Thanks for the double post, Mark.

Yeah, if you had read the post you would have understood what I said. Every branch has their good and bad days but we shouldn't call them out. After all, they risked their lives.SuperHornet wrote:Thanks for the double post, Mark.
