dal4018 wrote:So your saying it will be a defensive struggle??
Definitely probably 20-17 or something like that. Both these defenses are just too good, the game will come down to special teams and turnovers.
Honest question: Giving up 42 points in a half is good? I'll give it to Sam, they completely shut us out in the first half, but once we figured out their defense it was TD after TD after TD.

Ranger where are your guys now?
That's not relevant to his point. He said that the Bearkats defense was "solved" by EWU. I don't think NDSU can exploit it like EWU did, but it proves that opposing offenses can figure out what they do.

Okay point taken.Your right the Bison's pass offense is well below 200 yds a game and they have a guy Carson Wentz 6-5 220 a redshirt frosh. Is he the starter for the Bison???

Brock Jensen(Junior) is he starter, Wentz is the starter in waiting when Jensen is done or gets hurt.

Hope he gets some comp from McGinis he has good size 6-3 200.Too bad Wentz isn't at ODU with his size I think he would be a starter easily.Weinke doesn't have NFL size 6-1 190 that is the size of a defensive back.

Brock is the starter until he graduates or gets hurt.

This. Sam's man to man defense can definitely be exploited given the right schemes/personnel. I think the big difference between the first and second halves of our game with them was that when we put in a more mobile Qb in the second half it allowed our receivers the time to get more seperation, and anyway you saw the result. Whereas in the first half they were able to T up on Padron, who is less mobile and stays in the pocket.
I think Jensen has shown that he can make some plays with his feet. I do absolutely feel like the Bison need to able to make a play here and there in the passing game, because their rushing D is very good and you gotta find some way to keep them a little honest.

so, NDST is going to run the same offense as EWU to win.
1. No they wont
2. they dont have the receivers.
3. if they did there would be an over/under of picks of 4.

And Cal Poly slowed down their high scoring offense. Held them to 241 yards.

4 weeks later and your still not over it. Might be time for prozac.

Just pointing out that it can be done. NDSU has probably the best defense in the FCS and they have three weeks to prepare. I don't see SHSU scoring more than 10 in this game.

His future is very bright. He is more of a pure passer, I heard he blew the coaching staff away when he came here in regards to how fast he picked things up.
That said this is Jensen's team right now, but with Carson at backup the coaching staff has been able to use Brock's running ability to the fullest extent which makes our offense a bit harder to prepare. Teams have to spy Brock or he'll burn them.
Okay thanks who is the deep threat for you guys this time and hope you recruit some fresh talent to take advantage of this guy and his potential. What about McGinis he at 6-3 200 has good size????

no, hes been exercising his 1st ammed. rights since the loss. Problem is, he cant get over the loss.
I predicted the wins over the big fluffy for all three games. NDST is in another league. Not sure how that one turns out. Should be a great game though. enjoy some bench boys.

If I could not get over the loss you would hear me say we were the better team and should have won. You haver NEVER heard me say that. I am a fan of FCS football and unlike some fans that only come out from under a rock only when there team wins, I am here win or lose and I will continue to voice my opinion thank you very much.
I would like to see the team that knocked my team out of the playoffs take it all, but some of their fans are starting to have me pull for a NDSU blowout.

Fargo your right ,when it comes to run defense both teams are good they are, second and third nationally only Harvard ,is more stingier when it comes to run defense. But when it comes to pass defense I think NDSU ,might be able to exploit the Bearkats they are ranked 42nd.The Bison on the other hand are rated 18th if the Bison O Line ,can give Jensen some time maybe he can find a weakness in the Bearkats pass defense.

No one said that they did. Get ready for 60 minutes of smashmouth football.

Okay thanks who is the deep threat for you guys this time and hope you recruit some fresh talent to take advantage of this guy and his potential. What about McGinis he at 6-3 200 has good size????
NDSU has no true deep threat. Probably any of Zach Vraa, Andrew Okland, or Ryan Smith (only if the matchup is right). They did recruit a number of WRs that are in their first year right now, none of whom play. I am fairly high on them and I have high hopes that they will develop into a solid crop of wideouts. I haven't heard anything about McGinnis as a player. I don't know what your question is about good size- he's 6-3, 200. What's the question? That's plenty big enough.

SloStang - I already flipped to NDSU. The AGS board is much worse than here.

I was asking if McGinis will get a chance to show his talent against Wentz???Hope those WRs have some deep speed in them so they can take advantage of Wentz's strong arm.

I'd say that depends on this spring goes. Jensen is back, but if McGinnis shows something, that will only lend itself to a debate in 2014.
