Romo loses the Big game
When will sportscasters finally admit that Romo is NOT a good QB? He can manage a game and shows flashes from time to time, but when the game or season is on the line he is one of the last people to be entrusted to take the team to the top.
He proved it again last night.

Danny White wouldn't have lost the game.

I'm not sure if I'd denigrate McNabb to that degree. I'd compare Romo to, oh, say, Dieter Brock, Marc Wilson, Gary Hogeboom, Steve Pelleur, Trent Dilfer, etc....93henfan wrote:He's the Donovan McNabb of white quarterbacks.grizzaholic wrote:When will sportscasters finally admit that Romo is NOT a good QB? The Sirens' star RB/KR who won a gold medal with Team USA in the first Women's World Championship of American Football had this to say about Tony Romo on FB today. I think she has a point.
"Charlie Brown is a better kicker than [Tony] Romo is a QB."

Re: Romo loses the Big game
Well the sportscasters were drooling all over him during the game. Right up to the end they were rimming his a$$ talking about how hard this loss would be on him.grizzaholic wrote:When will sportscasters finally admit that Romo is NOT a good QB? I love watching Dallas lose to Washington. It is as if the stars are back in their proper places.

At least McNabb played in a couple of NFC Championships and the Super Bowl neither of which Romo can claim.93henfan wrote:He's the Donovan McNabb of white quarterbacks.grizzaholic wrote:When will sportscasters finally admit that Romo is NOT a good QB? Guess you must have forgotten those losses vs Philadelphia and Washington in those NFC Championship games in the early 80s!!!Ibanez wrote:Danny White wouldn't have lost the game.

I agree that McNabb is bettter than Romo, but both have been way over rated.SuperHornet wrote:I'm not sure if I'd denigrate McNabb to that degree. I'd compare Romo to, oh, say, Dieter Brock, Marc Wilson, Gary Hogeboom, Steve Pelleur, Trent Dilfer, etc....93henfan wrote:

I would take Dilfer off of your list, he won a Super Bowl. He may have been along for the ride while the Raven defense did most of the work, but he was smart enough to not lose the big game.

Re: Romo loses the Big game
He was never an elite QB, very good, but not elite. The national media often portrayed him as elite. When the Eagles traded him to DC there were national talking heads saying how stupid the Eagles were for trading him in the division. Turns out the Eagles were right, McNabb wasn't that good. McNabb sucked in Minnesota too.dal4018 wrote:How was McNabb overrated????BlueHen86 wrote:

In his prime McNabb would have flashes of greatness, but the would also have spells where every pass was in the turf. He was way too inconsistent.

Then explain why he had most successful career of all those QBs in that class of '99.Only Culpepper and him had decent careers in that '99 class. He never had a go to guy at the WR position other than TO.Imagine if the Eagles had drafted Moss in '98????BlueHen86 wrote:He was never an elite QB, very good, but not elite. Re: Romo loses the Big game
Look at that 99 class...being the best out of that busty of a class isn't saying much.
However, when in his prime he was a top 7-10 qb in the league

Yeah I was never overly impressed with McNabb. Good QB for a while, definitely not an elite QB.BlueHen86 wrote:He was never an elite QB, very good, but not elite. Most successful is a relevant term. McNabb had the most successful career because he was above average and the rest of the guys sucked - that doesn't make McNabb great.dal4018 wrote:Then explain why he had most successful career of all those QBs in that class of '99.Only Culpepper and him had decent careers in that '99 class. He never had a go to guy at the WR position other than TO.Imagine if the Eagles had drafted Moss in '98????BlueHen86 wrote:

Re: Romo loses the Big game
86: You have a good argument there, but consider this: Dilfer is the ONLY guy to be fired immediately after winning the Super Bowl. That says a lot about his game managership vs. a desire to shift to actual field generalship.
Of course, there are NO true field generals anymore, short of P. Manning (maybe). As offense complexity increases, the pressure on coordinators to micromanage playcalling increases. Quarterbacks should be calling their own plays, and discussing drive results with the OC after the defense takes over....
