Dear FCS playoff selection committee...

Post by Pwns »

You suck.

Why were the best 3 teams in the bracket on one half? WHY did you give Montana State the #4 seed instead of GSU?

F YOU. You may have just giftwrapped the national championship to NDSU. :ohno:

Wow. I didn't think we'd hear griping this quick, and especially not from GA Southern. Let NDSU enjoy their title for a while, why don't you? Sheesh!

Besides, Montana didn't even make the playoffs....

It's possible seedng GSU 4 might've gotten the Eagles into the title game since they wouldn't have had to play NDSU on the road in the semis but I don't see how you can say they gift wrapped the championship for NDSU. I mean, NDSU had to beat both Wofford and GSU to get there. Yes they were home games but they did have to beat them.

Switch GSU and SHSU and we would have been playing today.

Give me a break. :dunce:

You suck.

Why did you leave the best team out of the playoffs? Towson would have busted through the playoff brackets and sent all of those weak-ass one dimensional pretenders home.

Bottom line is NDSU beat the teams in front of them and they've now gone through 8 playoff games over two years giving up 14, 0, 7, 6, 3, 7, 20, and 13 points. That works out to an average of 8.75 points per game in two years worth of national championship playoff football. Defense may not win all championships but it's sure as heck been winning them for NDSU. And I LOVE that kind of football. Great to see a team using the style NDSU uses win the title twice in a row in this era of fancy pantsy bells and whistles stuff.

GTFO here with that shit. Wofford better than SHSU or EWU is a huge stretch.

Good post!!!

I thought this game would be 28-13 but I was wrong. :thumb:

Wofford and GSU were better teams all-around.

Great seasons by NDSU and SHSU.

Nonsense. :tothehand:

Wofford and GSU were one dimensional offenses...as well as SHSU. Run, run, run....blah, blah, blah...gimmick, gimmick, gimmick. Any good defense can stop those teams if they are given time to prepare...as has been proven repeatedly in the playoffs over several years. Sure, ,those gimmick offenses beat weak teams with only a week's worth of preperation, but once they run into a solid defensive team, they get owned. And, given the extra weeks of preparation for the title game, it is highly doubtful that a one dimensional option team will even win against a good defensive team.

GSU could not stop a passing offense to save their lives. Sure, they beat ODU, but if ODU had even a shadow of a defense they would have blown GSU out of the water. Cripes, GSU gave up 26 points and 447 yards to a pathetic Howard team...c'mon, man! EWU would have passed themselves silly against either Wofford or GSU...but EWU also had a defense (not offense) that was MUCH better than ODU, so they would have been able to beat either team.

Face it, not many teams in FCS were really balanced and good this year.

You kidding me?

GSU would have beat most FCS teams this year. They pulled some tricks out of their playbook in their passing game against the Bison.

How the he** do you know if they would get beat by EWU. Wofford had a really good defense also.

SHSU playing a soft prevent in the 2nd half did them no favors in their game against EWU. I think most teams would go into a 'coast' mode when they get up by that many points.

Did you even watch the game? They were not playing "Prevent" defense. EWU made second half adjustments that allowed them to start beating SHSHU's man defense one on one with our receivers. SHSU then switched to a zone, which they were not good at executing. EWU's main problems in the first half of that game was the inability to stop the option, which we're not used to seeing much. But they had a great game plan so I will give them all the credit in the world.

SHSU was not one dimensional. They leaned to the run but they threw for 190 yards per game this year and finished 10th in FCS in passing efficiency. Since I was pulling for NDSU one of the most frustrating things for me early on was how effectively SHSU threw the football. Their quarterback was being really accurate. They moved the ball well. Just didn't make it pay off.

You look up and the score was 39-13 but the game was won by NDSU and lost by SHSU early on when SHSU was moving the ball up and down the field but not getting many points. They get points and get up on NDSU and it's a totally different kind of ball game.

NDSU won the NC by beating up SHSU. That simple. I noticed in 1st qtr & commented then that the Bison were beating up the Kats. Altho the halftime score didn't show it, I figured the effects would be in the 4th qtr & they were. Hard blocking, hard running, hard tackling. That's good, relentless, fair, clean football. It was on both sides of the ball. The offense was as brutal as the defense. Yes, indeed. Power football beats finesse football every time & the Bison proved it.

NDSU was both good AND lucky. Their brand of good was likely enough to get the job done in and of itself, but when you combine BOTH, that's tough to beat. The Bison truly are the national champions, and I can't argue with that.

NDSU Conspiracy

Expandos: All teams that have pulled out of home and home contracts with NDSU have been black-listed by the NCAA. Georgia Southern now will play all Semi-final games in the Fargodome. Montana will only be allowed to make the playoffs every other year and Montana State will continue to play the runner-up in the playoffs every year. :coffee:

In most cases I will agree with that last statement.

The Bison physically dominated SHSU in the 2nd half.

What I am looking forward to in '13 is that the Bison could and should be better.

I think the Bison physically dominated in the 2nd half because they worked on them from the start of the game. It just became a matter of how long the Kats could hold out. It's just Bison football & we saw it. A lot like Bobby Hauck's winning philosophy when he was at MT.

After he left, it was all about, "Oh, now, we can get back to the Air Read system: finesse football, lots of wide-open passing, spreads, options, etc. Huraaay!" BH's pro-style vs. the spread-option style of Oregon. Look where it got the Griz. A disastrous 2010 season. Yes, the Griz went to the semis in 2011, but there's been a tremendous improvement in other BSC teams that had Pflu stayed, even w/ JJ, it's questionable whether the Griz could repeat or exceed 2011.

I believe the Bison have shown us the way: Get back to good, fundamental, knock-them-on-their ass, hard, football. Finesse now & then, but keep to the fundamentals of good football. Even Oregon, with its hurry-up offense (its only quality, a gimmick in itself) would have lost to Alabama. It would have been a better game than we saw, BTW. The Griz have a lot to learn from the Bison. Or, remember how the Griz succeeded before the disasters of the 2010, 2012 seasons.
