Redskins as a mascot name to be part of the past?

All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

I'm not generally a PC person, but I am for consistency. The name Redskins is FAR worse than a lot of team names that were forced to change over the years. There is no way you can argue that "redskins" isn't a slur.

There was a group of native Americans that were asking them to change the name back in the 90s.Now it's the millenium and they are finally getting around to changing the name.

Sure you can. Redskins is not a racial slur. See?

It isn't as if they are the Washington Half Breeds/Savages/Scalpers/Brass Ankles.

There is no way you can successfully argue that "redskins" isn't a slur.

DC would have to pay Snyder and the NFL north of 8 figures in order to make this name change happen- for a team that returns zero tax revenue or economic benefit to the District...

If the team moves back into the DC limits, why not call them the "Washington Crackheads"? :?

Little Danny is a life long Redskins fan. All this means is DC just fucked themselves out of a dual stadium complex, and the planned neighborhood rehab and river front walk is screwed because he ain't changing the name. The dome will go to MD or VA.

Would a return to the original name be any better? The team was originally the Boston Braves....

NFL should finally get some cajones. Tell Danny boy to change the name, or take back ownership.

Today's society is unbelievably sensitive. Seriously, it's a freakin word. Don't get butthurt over it. Plus, when you switch uncomfortable words to R-word or N-word, people still know the word. Not saying it doesn't mean shit. Seriously, watch some Louis C.K.

Maybe the Senators can hire this guy as manager and the skins can use him as a mascot:

The sad thing is, dback is serious. Just because "Danny Boy" paid for it, doesn't mean someone else can't just take it for something as silly as a name.
