Re: Super Bowl Participants and Champion?
Two really good games yesterday. I enjoyed them both. It’s really hard not to cheer for Baltimore in all of this. They completely dominated NE yesterday…I mean it was complete domination and every enjoyable to watch. Something that really bothered me was that Brady slide at the end of the 1st half. He was running for a short gain and slide feet first and deliberately kicked the Raven defender as he was jumping over him to avoid contact. More disgusting was Phill Simms’ commentary “oh he put his leg up to protect himself.” No jackass, he slid feet first to protect himself, he put his leg up to try and injury a defender in a classless move. All didn’t like the double standard on defenseless receivers, ie they were constantly called against the Ravens but never against NE (that Pitta hit was a prime example). It was good to see NE get ass pounded all throughout the 2nd half.
The 49ers rebounded well and bounced back from a 17 point hole. I thought that ATL catch was an incompletion. Basically the WR trapped the ball between his body and the ground (and it had a ton of movement) but because his hand stayed on the ball it was ruled he never lost possession. This ruling goes against pretty much every ruled incompletion since review came into the league. The roughing the passer call was crap and I like the no call at the end of the game. Good game all around and the 49ers wanted it more.
Should be a good SB, although I’m not looking forward to all the Harbaugh (sp?) brothers articles for the next 2 weeks. Also both road teams won, has that ever happened before?

I literally couldn't stop laughing when all Brady had to do to convert 4th and 4 was scamper a few yards and get OOB, but instead he flailed around looking for an open receiver before just falling on his ass.SDHornet wrote:Two really good games yesterday. I still can't believe the Whiners got a free pass because of an incompetent umpire....

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

I would enjoy this Super Bowl more if I had some Harbaugh-omitting glasses to wear. Maybe we'll have some decent commercials......

True. With that said, I'd gladly trade Ron Rivera for some of that "San Francisco" genre in Carolina.JayJ79 wrote:That reaction does appear to fit the whole "San Francisco" genre.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:

I don't understand how people can fully bandwagon support a team just because a player from their alma mater is on the roster. I hope Taiwan Jones has success, but fuck the Raiders. I hope the Raiders lose every game and they trade TJ to a winner. Like the Seahawks.ASUMountaineer wrote:I still can't believe the Whiners about the Whiners. Re: Super Bowl Participants and Champion?
It's easy for me to root for the Ravens. They have Joe Flacco and GIno Gradkowski from Delaware and, as the crow flies, it's the closest team to where I was born and raised. Plus, the Eagles have been stagnant for several years now, the Chip Kelly hiring notwithstanding.Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:I don't understand how people can fully bandwagon support a team just because a player from their alma mater is on the roster. I was more speaking in regards to ASUMountaineer's bandwagon support of the 9ers, a team he wouldn't give a shit about if they had a losing record or Kilgore wasn't on the roster. Same goes with Polson and his "support" of the Falcons.93henfan wrote:It's easy for me to root for the Ravens. Their team loyalty is akin to your ownership of returnable items.

And what exactly is team loyalty? Rooting for laundry? Rooting for a billionaire owner and the millionaire divas on the rotating-door roster? Rooting alongside the other dipshits that compromise 90% of NFL fans?Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:I was more speaking in regards to ASUMountaineer's bandwagon support of the 9ers, a team he wouldn't give a shit about if they had a losing record or Kilgore wasn't on the roster. I like the Niners. I love seeing the Seahawks fail. But I'll trade any and all of that to see someone like Mariani get a ring or pro bowl nod.

My guess is it has something to do with growing up following one team and supporting them in good years and bad, not just rooting for a team because they're winning or have a player that went to your school. Also known as bandwagoning.
