"I think it's retarded. I probably shouldn't say that. I think it's stupid," he told reporters after the Ravens arrived in New Orleans for Sunday's Super Bowl. "If you want a Super Bowl, put a retractable dome on your stadium. Then you can get one.
"Other than that I don't really like the idea. I don't think people would react very well to it, or be glad to play anybody in that kind of weather," he said.
At Super Bowl media day in New Orleans on Tuesday, Flacco apologized for initially using "retarded" in his response.
"Obviously, it was a poor choice of words. At home, I have a close relationship with Special Olympics. I didn't mean to offend anyone. I definitely apologize for that," he said.
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Like the blizzard the weekend of UNI's playoff game at Delaware in '03? (okay, so that wasn't the "blizzard of the century", and it was probably before Flacco's time there, but still)

That was a fun game (for us of course), sitting on snow banks in the stands. But that's a different crowd than the Superbowl, with its swaths of corporate guests all over the stadium. Those people won't show if it's below, say, 30 degrees or precipitating. Or, if they do show, they won't leave the hospitality tents. It'll be a really weird scene.
Seriously, pray for snow. It would be fun to see what really happens.

That UNI game in '03 was an all-timer. It was fun to carve out foot room to sit in the stands. UD jumped on the poor visitors from the Midwest early & the romp was on.
Oh the days when we had a dominating D-Line & special team units......

I witnessed a fistfight between UD fans in the stands over seating space at that game. It was hilarious, because they were so heavily bundled up (and drunk) that they could only land glancing blows!

The game was delayed at least 30 minutes if you remember to clear the snow from the field so there was extra time to drink that day. Think a non-1:00pm Eagles game.
