Officials at Auburn University have announced the iconic oak trees at Toomer's Corner will be removed.
University officials made the announcement Friday and said in a statement that the trees are unlikely to survive despite efforts to save them after they were poisoned with a powerful herbicide.

All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

Where have you been? This was national news. The guy who "allegedly" did it has been on TV many times since.dal4018 wrote:You know this for a fact to be true??CitadelGrad wrote:

They're TREES, people. Let's keep it in perspective.

This is the guy that did it. He called into the Paul Finebaum show under an assumed named and said he poisoned the trees. He was tracked down shortly after the call. He ended his call by saying "Roll Damm Tide".

Ahhhh...but they're somebody ELSE's trees! That's the key. It's not the trees themselves. It's that those trees were icons to the Auburn community.AZGrizFan wrote:They're TREES, people. Let's keep it in perspective.
Like I have an oak tree in my backyard. Shortly after my grandfather died I was walking around his property...he was a subsistence farmer with 40 acres and I had many fond memories of spending time there doing farm things...and I pulled up a little oak sprout about two or three inches tall. Just a couple of little leaves.
Now it's an oak tree maybe 20 to 25 feet tall in my backyard. And if somebody poisoned it I'd be pissed because it's MY oak tree and where I got it makes it special to me.
Even though some day I may cut it down myself because I think it's a water oak and if it is that means it'll blow down if a hurricane comes. Still need to pull a leaf off and have somebody identify it. Actually when I pulled it out of my grandfather's ground I thought it was going to be a live oak because it was underneath his big live oak tree.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?
