New FCS uniforms and rebranding for 2013

So whats the news on new uniforms and rebranding for this upcoming year?

Here is what I have heard, not saying it's all true, but rumors are fun!

Montana State has switched to Under Armor and will be getting new uniforms. It is also no secret that we will be getting a new logo. From the rumors I have hear it will be a modification of our current logo. Further we will be getting new matted blue helmets. (Frankly I don't like any of these developments) However, a good piece of news would be that the jerseys and color scheme will still remain blue and gold with blue and gold pants combinations. I think the new logo and uniforms will debut at the spring game in April.

Montana is said to undergo a uniform change with perhaps a new logo. Not really sure about it though.

Mercer just posted their new uniforms. Combinations of black, white, and orange jerseys with black helmets.

Beyond that, I got nothing. Anyone else heard anything?

UM AD Kent Haslam confirmed today that the Griz are getting new uniforms for next season. Nike is still the provider and it sounds like there will options for "mixing and matching" (Haslam's words). Don't know if that means we're going full-on Oregon or not. A recruit recently posted a pick of some Griz helmets on Instagram that included the current design, the throwback, the Griz-Cat design from a few years ago (silver with big black paw on the back) and a few other new designs: a glossy maroon helmet, a glossy white helmet and a matte maroon one. Said recruit ended up at MSU as a walk-on, I believe...guess he didn't like the uniforms at UM .

We (Charleston Southern) have a new head football coach. That may (or may not) mean a different provider. It has been New Balance in recent years. I hope that a new coach means a new provider. I know sometimes the coach is tied to the provider and other times the school is tied to the provider. Not sure what the case is in this instance.

I love our colors and wouldn't change them at all. Navy and Vegas Gold.

However, I would REALLY like to see a better, more professional, and more marketable logo.

I'm sure UNI won't have any, but I'd love to see something different. We got an "update" 2 year ago, and it was nothing more than what Miami (FL) wore about a decade ago.

I'd like to see us get an up to date uniform that others aren't really using.


Hell, to be completely honest, I want us to dump the yellow and go back to old gold and bring back these uniforms




I'd also like to see us dump the flying gopher head logo and go back to the block NI logo

UCA is switching from Nike to Adidas. No more stripes

My roommate works for the equipment department and he says we are getting "bear claw" marks on the shoulders like arkansas state had last season...and we might have a black matte helmet. There may also be a grey alternate jersey. I kinda liked the stripe theme and how it matched the field though

Every friday UNI AD Dannen answers a couple questions from fans on social media sites....last week he was asked about uniforms.

His answer was "We've been starting discussions about uniforms. I would like to keep white helmets in the rotation. With the preponderance of television, I think it is time we consider adding names to jerseys/uniforms in all sports as well."

He's also said that black is pretty much not going to happen on any UNI athletic uniform (minus volleyball and wrestling, who have a long history of black) going forward...and we'll have to see about VB and WR. The university is really trying put a lock down on colors at UNI. Purple and white are seeing a real big push, with yellow as an accent. There also seems to be replacing black with silver.

The basketball warm ups this year are silver and white with purple accents and all of the arm bands and what not are silver this year whereas they've been purple in the past; and the womens basketball team has been using the silver uniforms a lot this year.

Not sure I understand the comparison. The only team unis in golf are Ryder Cup and Europe clobbers the US in that every cup. WTF?...

App really does need to find a new uniform style. There are some schools that have uniforms that will never be touched...and shouldn't be. There is a number of schools though that buy into the "newest" uniform design and that needs to change every couple years or so before it gets old. App has had the same uniform for 8 years now? Keep the all black look, find something else to do with it though.

I don't hate what UNI has for uniforms, as I really like the purple and white look compared to the old purple and black.

I'd really like to get away from the "fad" designs that are out there - what we have now, ASU's Miami look, etc... and get back to what I posted earlier. The traditional look that never dies.

Not bad, but too much of a Steelers/Iowa ripoff IMHO. I like the black pants/jersey but we really need to move away from what we've had. Eight years in the same uniforms is an eternity - did you like the old Yosef one-off's we did last year? I was never too much of a fan of the old Yosef logo.

I liked the old Yosef ones, but not as much as these. I actually like the old Yosef logo, but it doesn't necessarily lend itself well to unis. I prefer the gold pants/black jersey for every home game but Black Saturday. We used to wear white pants/black jersey for every home game but Black Saturday. I'm not married to the sleeve stripes on the ones I pictured, but I like more classic unis. With that said, I am up for just about anything as long as it's different.

Rumor has it that UNI is going with the all white look for the Iowa State road game. People loved the all white look, myself included. It's our road tops (typically worn with purple pants), home pants, and a white helmet.




I'd like to see all white pants and all white jersey (r.e. get rid of the purple stripes on the sides) but that would require us to buy a set of uniforms like that, which won't happen.

I'd like to see the white helmet done different though. No one was really a fan of the all purple logo. I'd like to see the block NI, as I've already stated. But the standard logo would have looked nicer, though more yellow than they probably wanted due to the lack of yellow on the uniform.

The home alt is tough for me. We've done the black out look, and it wasn't terrible (okay, it was but because we went cheap on the uniforms, not the looks it self)...BUT I feel black is played out, and with purple and yellow as school colors all black and purple is too dark BUT as an anti-anything Hawkeye related I refuse to want to see any combo of black and yellow on our uniforms (I refuse to wear black and yellow together in my every day life...seriously, I do).

I'd really like to see a grey uniform like WVU pulled a year or to ago, especially with our AD saying silver was going to happen more. Though I know the money will never be spent on a grey helmet, jersey, and pants.

When you play inside you don't even have to wash the uniforms after a game, so white makes sense.

I heard for a friend in the UM athletic department ( see I talk to some griz fans.) That they are going "all black" for one of the games. He said the will have black plants, tops, helmets, and the numbers will be black with silver lining.
