Women are taking over NASCAR

Post by grizzaholic »

THE END IS NEAR!!!...sorry, spoke with spanos today.

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The laws of physics explain why there aren't any female members of a NASCAR pit crew: The average woman of 5-4 weighs around 130 pounds, and the average racing tire weighs between 55 and 70 pounds. So physics explains a woman of average size would have to lift and move half her weight – twice – and bolt two tires in 12 seconds or less to succeed in a NASCAR pit.

Physics never met Christmas Abbott.

The "average" woman is 5'4"? Bullcrap. I know very few women that short. Most of the women I know are 5'6" to about 5'9" (closer to 5'6"). And I know PLENTY over 6'.

Noted, SE.

But that by NO means excuses the bogus idea that ALL women should be kept out merely because the supposedly "average" woman can't do it.

The article doesn't say that. I'm sure that if a woman met the physical standards and wanted to do it, she would be accepted. I would assume not many women would want to do that kind of work, and those that do, typically aren't as strong/fast as men.

Of course, the article didn't say that. But there are ignoramuses on this board who have made that bogus assertion, and are somehow offended when women "invade" traditionally male bastions. They're just testosterone-laden monsters as far as I'm concerned. Thinking with your testosterone is NEVER good....

I don't think anyone is suggesting they be kept out. It's just that the average woman can't do the job on account of them being mostly smaller...and weaker.

On a related note I was a pretty damn good volleyball player in high school. A bunch of us played pick up games a few days a week in the fall and occasionally worked out with and served as cannon fodder for the EWU Men's club team.

Our high school, like most, didnt offer boys volleyball as a varsity sport. Should I have been allowed to play on the girls team? I had the skills, and at 5'10" I would have been tall enough.

Would I have been forced to wear bun huggers?

The only one offended here is you, by misinterpreting what the "ignoramuses" here have been saying; that the vast majority of women aren't physically able to meet the demands of lifting/changing two NASCAR tires in the time constraints.

And women ARE invading NASCAR...hell, by this time next year they will have to add additional bumpers around the car because of all the women drivers.

You could have just said CAA Flagship is an example. It would have saved you from looking in a Thesaurus and a Dictionary.
