Re: Big Sky Basketball - 2012-13
NoCo now down 2 with less than :30 left. Davis going to the line I believe.
And big news for the other UNC team as their women lost to SUU at home by 16 (first home loss of the season). Lady Griz now up a game in the loss column.

UCD missed the front end of the 1&1, and Garnica hit a trey to give NoCo a 1-point lead with 14 seconds left.

Weber's up 7 late in the game in Tulsa.
Suutah already down 10 in the first half against CSUN.

Re: Big Sky Basketball - 2012-13
Well....shitsprinkles.Then with 4:40 to play, Will Cherry came up lame. He spent the rest of the game on the bench with ice on his right foot, the same one he broke back in September. He said after the game that it feels the same as it did when he broke it during a pick-up game.
“That’s what he says, but obviously we won’t know anything until we get an X-ray,” Tinkle said. “He said it feels the same, but who knows? Obviously, if that’s true, it’s not a good thing.”
Especially not with road games at Montana State and Southern Utah looming on the horizon. The Griz, who hold a one-game lead over Weber State in the Big Sky standings, will probably need to win their remaining four league games in order to host the postseason tournament for the second straight season.

The Weebs hold on to beat Oral Roberts on the road by 4.
That's got to be doubly embarrassing for the evangelicals at ORU. Not only do they lose to a school from Mormon country, they lose to a public school from Mormon country.

Sac down by 12 in a low-scoring game.
NAU getting thumped on the islands.
SUU just got a bucket to go up 1 with 11 seconds left. T-Birds win 73-72 in the battle of new Big Sky versus former Big Sky.

Sac has now cut it to 1 with 2:30 to go. Looks like first team to 50 gets the win.
'Jacks now down by 30. Their women also lost to Sac at home tonight by double digits.

Hornets apparently win 51-50. Three of the games today decided by exactly 1 point.
Big Sky now 5-5 once the mercy rule is implemented in Honolulu. MSU/SoDak will be the rubber match.

It's really too bad, but I really think he's done. I couldn't see it, but several people on eGriz basically knew when it happened that he was done.Wildcat Ryan wrote:Not good news for Montana, hopefully Will didn't re-break his foot
I was hoping at the beginning of the year that Will would just bite the bullet and take a medical redshirt to be able to play next year, but I think he really wanted to be out there.
It's easy now to say I think it would have helped him more than playing this year, since he could very well be done as a college player now.
One of the greatest Griz BBall players ever. It's sad it had to end like this.

2/23 Scores
- Men
SHSU 76-81 EWU; The Eags get a Big-Sky-record 16 blocks and win despite 40 fewer shot attempts
UCR 58-66 PSU; Highlanders start the second half on a 23-9 run, then don't score again for nearly 7 minutes
SAC 51-50 UCSB; The cold-shooting Hornets win with D by holding UCSB to 10 points over the final 12:00
ID 75-69 ISU; The Bengals hold sharpshooting Idaho to 39%, but lose the boards by 22
CSUN 72-73 SUU; The stats were virtually identical except that Suutah made 6 treys to Northridge's 1
WEB 70-66 ORU; Perimeter proficiency made the difference here, too, as Weber made 9 treys to ORU's 4
NAU 50-84 HAW; Hawai'i cooled off markedly in the second half, but NAU shot 17% in the same period
UMT 87-93 DVDSN (OT); Kareem Jamar's 28 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 assists aren't quite enough
UNC 78-79 UCD; The Bears regain their shooting touch, but the defense remains the same
UND 75-83 OMAHA; The No-Nicks shoot an uncharacteristic 47% from the line
Women
SAC 78-68 NAU; Hornets clinch their 4th. BSC Tournament berth in 5 years—they only had 2 prior to that
SUU 73-57 UNC; NoCo's 13-game home winning streak comes to an end
PSU 50-71 UND; The depleted Viks are outshot 50%-25% and only force 9 TOs against turnover-prone NoDak

Re: 2/23 Scores
EWU is improving a little bit of late. The vast majority of minutes are played by underclassmen and if IIRC we had three freshman and a sophomore starting yesterday's game with another sophomore, Parker Kelly coming off the bench to be the #2 scorer. Freshman forward Venky Jois is leading the conference in rebounding and blocked shots and is also the team's leading scorer.Mvemjsunpx wrote:

Garrity hit Veteto for the go ahead layup with 5 seconds to go. UCSB's desperation shot hit the front of the rim. Poor shooting night by both teams. Good to see the Hornets get a win that can hopefully give us some momentum heading into the final 4 BSC games.Mvemjsunpx wrote:Hornets apparently win 51-50. Re: Big Sky Basketball - 2012-13
Three Big Sky records were set in tonight's Sac/Weber women's game in Ogden…
1. As expected, Weber State lost their 45th. consecutive overall game. This breaks the record of 44 straight set by, ironically, the Sac State women from early 2001 to late 2002.
2. Megan Kritscher broke Brenda Souther's 29-year old record for single-season blocks. Souther had 100 even, Kritscher now has 101 (Souther played before the Big Sky adopted women's basketball, but the Big Sky record book includes all stats/records amassed during the MWAC era (1982-88)).
3. Kylie Kuhns broke the Big Sky's career rebounding record. She now has 1178 boards, surpassing the previous mark of 1174 accumulated by Natalie Doma (ISU) from 2004-08.

I expected a loss to Weber, but NAU, UNC, and MSU wins really puts us in a terrible spot. We need to win 2 of the last 3 to have a chance at the BSCT. Not good.

You'll probably get most—if not all—of that ground back Saturday, since you host ISU while MSU & NAU play the top two.SDHornet wrote:I expected a loss to Weber, but NAU, UNC, and MSU wins really puts us in a terrible spot. We need to win 2 of the last 3 to have a chance at the BSCT. Not good.
