Tournament Scenarios
On the men's side, nothing was resolved in the title race last night but quite a bit was decided in the race to make the tourney. Idaho State was eliminated outright—they can't even catch 7th. place—and Portland State was effectively eliminated since they would have to win in Ogden (among other things) to have any hope of getting in. Eastern Washington has to beat NoDak tomorrow, or they'll be in the same position PSU is.
On the women's side, it's the reverse: little was resolved as far as making the tournament, but quite a bit got decided for hosting. NoCo stole a win over EWU to offically make it a two-team race. The three tied for 3rd. can do no better than tie for 1st., but none of the three have any hope of actually winning the tiebreaker. Idaho State is officially eliminated since they were swept by both Montana & UNC. Sac State is officially eliminated because they were swept by NoCo and they can't sweep anybody better than 6th. place MSU. Eastern split with both of the top two, but there's no way common games can favor them: NoCo would have a common games advantage over Sac, Montana would have a common games disadvantage vs. MSU, and NoCo would have a disadvantage vs. SUU. However, SUU now cannot catch Sac, so the tie would ultimately come down to NoCo's common games advantage against Sac.

Great comeback for Weber, feel kinda bad for NAU, but sheesh, what a game.

pick my avatar big feller. What the fucking hell was ISU doing in the second half? They played great for the first 21 minutes then decided that points were not important.SDHornet wrote:Fine. Bet is on.grizzaholic wrote:

Don't worry, the Hornets did all they can to give it away and went scoreless in the final 2:40 of the game. Ugly game but glad to see the Hornets grab a win on senior night.grizzaholic wrote:pick my avatar big feller. What the fucking hell was ISU doing in the second half? I'll have to find some kind of a wolf avatar or something...or maybe something about peanut allergies. I dunno but I'm gonna have to dig up something for this.

No. That was not part of the bet. It will be stored away until the next bet I make.SDHornet wrote:Care to share the avatar you had in store for me? My curiosity has peaked.grizzaholic wrote:

If you like MLP shit, hit up Egriz and ask BWahlberg (sp) about his collection.SDHornet wrote:I gave you a choice because I knew you would pick that purple wolf one. Just wanted to verify that I have you well read.grizzaholic wrote:

Griz blow a lead late, make a trey to tie it, then dominate the OT thanks to perfect free throw shooting. Griz will host if they sweep the final two at home (they still could possibly host if they lose one, even if/when Weber wins out).

An almost 20 freethrow difference and a non-called blatant goal-tending is the difference in this game.
Congrats to Montana for the win, and hosting (most likely)

So what is the scenario where the Griz lose one of the final two and still host? Just curious, I'm not really sure what the tie breakers are.Mvemjsunpx wrote:Griz blow a lead late, make a trey to tie it, then dominate the OT thanks to perfect free throw shooting. I think the Griz can survive a loss and still host...so feel free to tell your boys to take it easy this Thursday.Vidav wrote:So what is the scenario where the Griz lose one of the final two and still host? Common games (top down): the Griz want MSU to finish above NAU/Sac if UM loses to NAU/Sac.Vidav wrote:So what is the scenario where the Griz lose one of the final two and still host? SUU is the second-most foul-prone team in the nation, so you can't be surprised at the free throw differential.Wildcat Ryan wrote:An almost 20 freethrow difference and a non-called blatant goal-tending is the difference in this game.

Oh, and when you shoot 10 FT's in OT when they are fouling you every chance they get hoping you would miss, it makes the difference look worse than it really was.

They didn't get worked. They showed up and shot lights out for most of the game. I was shocked at the halftime score, SUU should have been up 10 not down 5.SDHornet wrote:Grizza sorry to see your team get worked the way they did. I hope you don't take it out on your liver.

You mean the Weber/NAU game where NAU had 24 freethrows and Weber had 23?
Montana before overtime had 24 freethrows SUU had 13. If the refs would have called the goaltending, it wouldnt have even gone to over time, Lucky for Montana the refs decided not to.
