For the third time in four weeks, the Big Sky Pitcher of the Week is a Hornet. Hee, hee!
Freshperson Jennifer Hartman was 2-0 last week over a start and a long-relief appearance for her first two collegiate wins. In these two games (over ten IP), she gave up a mere two unearned runs. For the season, Hartman is 2-1 with a 0.84 ERA, and hitters are putting up an anemic .203. Even worse, opposing hitters are a woeful .091 with two out. In 16.2 IP, Hartman has given up a mere 12 hits and two earned runs. Hartman is very quickly turning into the staff ace.
Sac is 8-5 on the year. The Hornets' next action is this coming weekend at a tournament at Cal Poly (Rutgers, Nevada, Cal Poly, Northern Illinois, Cal Poly). That will be followed by an eleven game interrupted homestand (the interruption being a lone road game as part of a two-day home-and-home series against San Jose State) that includes the Capital Classic (TX St, St. Mary's, Fresno St, Kansas). Big Sky play follows with a season-opening series in Sac against UNC. That's followed by more OOC games (the SJSU series, a home singleton against Cal, and a home double header against Reno that starts April).
Go Hornets!!!

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
