Teams who voluntarily refuse to play in the postseason

Post by bonarae »

Princeton is one of them this year.

Who else from their conferences who won't dance won't play in the postseason no matter what tournament it would be? (Other than for NCAA sanctions)
All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

So they wouldn't play in the NCAA, or just the NIT/CIT/etc?

In the Ivy League, only one team gets to play in the NCAA. Princeton finished second, so only the CBI/CIT would accommodate them.

I don't know why Princeton wouldn't want to play in a postseason. It would give them experience in a tournament that could come in handy if they made the NCAAs next year.

I believe Maine's women's team skipped the America East tourney because it came just a week after they got in some bus crash that injured some players. They finished last in their conference anyway, though.

I though the Ivy's did not want to participate in the post season because is would be too much of an academic hardship???? Oh, wait that is only for FCS Football :dunce:

I saw a report that Rutgers refused a potential WNIT bid before the committee even met due to injury problems. They MIGHT recant if they get an NCAA at-large, but with their bad second half of the season (due largely to said injuries), they don't have a chance in heck of that happening.

This is quite related to the topic...

Xavier was snubbed from the NIT and voluntarily refused to play in the CBI.

same story for illinois state.

I"get"why they would turn it down, but the extra practice/games are worth it

I believe Ivy teams have played in the NIT in the past.

Delaware has said it will not consider an offer to play in one of the pay-to-play tourneys, the CBI and CIT (or whatever they are).
