Poll: U.S. Catholics lean left on social issues

Post by dbackjon »

American Catholics are more liberal than the general population on social issues like divorce and homosexuality, despite the Catholic Church's longstanding conservatism on both issues, according to a new survey.
Catholics are more likely than non-Catholics to say that homosexual relations, divorce, and heterosexual sex outside wedlock are morally acceptable, according to an analysis by Gallup pollsters released on Monday.

In other areas, Catholics are nearly identical to the population at large. For example, 4 in 10 Catholics say abortion is "morally acceptable," compared to 41% of all Americans. And 63% back embryonic stem cell research, compared to 62% overall.

Catholics who attend church regularly hew more closely to church doctrine, but are still more liberal on many issues than non-Catholic regular church attendees.

But Jon...

...since Catholics, not the Church, are evil and judgemental, does this mean liberal social positions are evil and judgemental?

Or is this just another "divide and conquer" lie?

Inquiring minds want to know?

Oh, wait...the more I look at this...

...nevermind. I answered my own question.

It's a lie.

Uh, the church is fvcked. Most threads disparaging the religion primarily attack Rome or priests ass fvcking young boys and infants.

Your poll underscores the dwindling role of the Vatican in the daily lives of american catholics. More important, it's evidence that ultimately, common sense will prevail over dogma.
"Sarah Palin absolutely blew AWAY the audience tonight. If there was any doubt as to whether she was savvy enough, tough enough or smart enough to carry the mantle of Vice President, she put those fears to rest tonight. She took on Barack Obama DIRECTLY on every issue and exposed... She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain."

So glad I am now Episcopalian as I didn't have to check my brain at the church door. Then again I'm a moderate Episcopalian who can listen to both sides of any argument, but yeah, this Pope has lost it when it comes to Africa.

Pseudo Catholic you mean, closed communion and wild costumes without all the guilt crap.

Hey, we got you going in the right direction!! ;)

Hey, I love Catholic girls, the major sack of guts back in the college days was a good Catholic girl, she was fuckin great!! :D :D

Kinkiest sex I have ever had, and when she started feeling guilty, she asked for me to give her the old bare bottom spanking instead of going to confession!!

She got knocked up in high school by a teacher, had to be sent off to the Aunt's place in Florida for a "visit" when a Junior. Really damaged goods, butt ( :D ) I was enjoying it so much I though I wanted to marry it.

My wife does not appreciate a swat on the ass.

Oh those college days!! :D

I know, it was sarcasm, but I couldn't think of anything not shocking (like "And in more shocking news Clay Aiken is gay") that I haven't used already, mainly because I didn't want to spend more then 30 seconds on it. Of course they lean left...it's like saying Blacks vote for Democrats.
