I actually think closing it in at 72 degrees will be a huge help. I know I have bought tickets and come game day it is either mid day and hasn't rained yet so I don't want to get caught in it. Or it is about 97 and I would last 20 minutes outside before being miserable.

Being outdoors in FL is great as long as the rain holds off, usually the rain doesn't last too long.

true... but it adds 30-40 minutes to every game... not good for the fans... unless you had GREAT diversions in the concourses or something...

The Twins new stadium by far looks the best of the 4 new ones (MN, TB, FL, OAK)

which they don't... Like today, way to hot to be outside for the whole game. I was going to get tickets, but I can't handle being in that heat for 3 hours without much cover. They don't have nice TV's in the concourse to get shade but still watch.

Any plans for a new stadium for the Rays has been put on hold for a while as the proposed St. Pete waterfront location location was nixed for a number of reasons. They are now casually shopping other potential places to build, but it sounds like it will be a long time until anything happens.

FWIW, I actually liked the original proposed design. It was unique if nothing else.

I think they will move to Orlando or between Tampa and Orlando and become the Florida Rays. It would be the perfect name and the location would be ideal.

With the Marlins taking the Miami name idk how they could pass up using the "Florida" moniker.

I agree but it doesn't rain here as often as people think.

IDK about you, but I get rain every single day once June hits. Even if it is only 15 minutes, I would get at least one quick thunderstorm a day. Tampa is different They once had like 350 straight days of sunshine.

The new stadium proposal was constructed around this whole St. Pete revitalization project thing. There was a lot more involved with this than just building a stadium (parks being built, the Trop being turned into a shopping center / mall, etc.). These pieces never came together and the "revitalization" plan was not passed by the city. At least that's how I understood it, anyway.

Lack of available parking for the new stadium was also a big hang-up in the whole thing getting passed.

I doubt it but it would be cool if they moved to Orlampa, there's plenty of room. But I don't think they're going that far.

It would make Orlando happy. in 2012 we will see where things stand. It might be ideal for them by then. Especially if a new park is included
