Very exciting playoff. Cabrera came up, literally, an inch short.

Adam Scott becomes the first Australian winner of the tournament.

There aren't bad words. How can a word be bad? Shit, fuck, cunt, ass; these aren't bad words. We've decided that they are offensive to the general population and shouldn't be said. It's total bullshit. :twocents:

This.

Things that are offensive differ all over the world. If the sound I make with my mouth, or keyboard in this case that's your problem

Why? Anyone can use them, they offer no real advantage. This controversy is another example of the governing bodies holding on to tradition at the expense of the game.

Fantastic finish! Best one in a while!

Cabrera deserved to win, but goddamn Adam Scott was clutch. :notworthy:

Can't wait until the Adam Scott Super Saiyan GIF comes out after his putt on 18.

I'll give you that anyone can use them but to say they offer know real advantage is not true.

Anchoring a putter against your body allows for much more control of the putt and less chance for putting offline. You might as well put bumpers up on the lanes while you are bowling.

And it's not like golf doesn't regulate. You can't just use any golf club or ball. They have to be within regulations. Otherwise, everyone would be hitting the ball 400 yards with perfect control. Or is that holding on to tradition at the expense of the game.

And before someone else corrects my original statement, I am talking about anchoring the putters - if someone wants to use a long or belly putter but not anchor them, I have no issue.

There's little statistical evidence that they provide an advantage. The governing bodies lost all credibility related to maintaining traditional integrity when they failed to restrict ball distances and Titanium. Faldo and Pavin won majors some 15 years ago averaging around 250 yards off the tee. Yeah...the ball is juiced and the bats are hot.

The PGA Tour and equally as important , the PGA of America are against the ban. It's bad for the industry and game as a whole.

Stupid elitist/traditionalists. :coffee:

If anchoring offers an advantage, why isn't everyone using that style?

It's no different than the way you grip a putter. There some half dozen ways that you can hold/swing a traditional putter. Some ways work for some while other ways work for some.

It does offer an advantage.

The reason more don't use it is because it takes literally thousands, and I mean thousands, of strokes to become proficient with it after switching from a traditional putter.

Not many pros are going to fuck with their stroke long enough to change...

Do you know how many thousands of strokes a tour pro practices in a day/week? Many of them change grip, stance, putter style quite often searching for an improvement. Long putters are simply another option...

No real advantage has been proven.

Dumb rule. :coffee:

It's been proposed and the PGA Tour relatively recently announced they were against the ban but final decisions have not been made yet.

4 out of the last 5 majors winners have won with putters they have anchored. Majors are the most pressure packed of events and where the putting could be off easiest. Lots of tournaments are won by putting and this definitely has helped.

 but they played like crap. At least tiger tried and would most likely have won if he didn't hit the flagpole IMO. :thumb:

I say they should get back to pure golf.
use stuffed leather balls and all-wooden clubs.
(makes as much sense as banning belly putters)

I was looking over the standings and noticed that the 14 year-old Chinese kid didn't earn any money from the event. I'm not much of a golf fan so I don't know how the Masters works, but why did the kid earn $0 when everyone else who made the cut earned money (including those who finished below him)?

Great Masters, close all the way down to the playoff.

A few years ago when Cabrera was asked if he used a sports psycologist, he replied, I don't need one, I smoke.
