The reason Tebow gets so many "big plays" is that, once he starts moving out of the pocket, defenders momentarily stop, even for a split second, in order to react to the unfolding play. Tebow, when moving, throws defenders off balance.clenz wrote:SuperHornet wrote:You guys want to point to stats? Tebow has the following NFL records:

I've seen numerous such instances in which a receiver opens enough distance between him and the defender for even an inaccurate pass to land in his hands and go for a big gain.
Tebow is not a conventional NFL quarterback and many offensive coordinators want players to fit an existing system, rather than build a system around the quarterback.
Despite having below average passing skills, Tebow can be effective as a back-up particularly in a spread/wildcat formation. In fact, that's why I thought the Jets got him. I was surprised that the Jets never really gave him a chance.
I think Tebow's problem in New York is that Sanchez so under-performed as the starter that there was a significant push to install Tebow as the starter, and that created a quarterback controversy. He needs to find a spot where he can "back up" an above average starter-- a situation where there is no QB controversy, but where the starting QB is not so elite that there is never a good time to take the ball out of his hand even for a few plays.
