The Phillies are now 5-15 when Hammels, Lee or Halladay are on the mound.

If I had a nickel for every time I've heard that phrase since 2007, I would be richer than Bill Gates. Everyone knows the phils start slow, it just depends when they start getting hot that will determine if the team will be sellers or buyers at the deadline. Phils are 5 GB after tonight's win and if that's the same come July 31, it's going to be a tough call to have a firesale.Blow it up Ruben, before Monty blows you up.
Paps would like a word with you...This team doesn't hit very well, well let's be honest; this team doesn't do anything very well.

I'm just curious. This team has been held to 3 runs or fewer in 18 of their first 33 games. Do you like this lineup 1 through 8? One of the most horrific OF's you'll see. It's Dom Brown and...well...err....yea.Seahawks08 wrote: If I had a nickel for every time I've heard that phrase since 2007, I would be richer than Bill Gates. Re: Phillies 2013 "Road to Redemption" Thread
To be fair, Revere wasn't supposed to suck this bad, so hopefully he comes out of his funk. He does play some great D in CF. Phils will have to just go with Dom Brown and hope he develops. The 3rd OF spot is a huge problem, and that's why Amaro has been in contact with the Marlins about Stanton. The problem has been that there is no one to protect Howard. We need Chooch to return to form so he can sit in the 5 spot and split Howard and Brown to go Lefty Righty Lefty. If that doesn't happen between now and July 31st, the team will be more than 5 GB looking up at the Braves and Nats and sell whatever they can.I'm just curious. Re: Phillies 2013 "Road to Redemption" Thread
I agree with all of that. Revere has been a huge offensive disappointment. Brown is actually doing OK. Stanton? Haha, I read that too but it would cost the Phils too much. Chooch with the Adderall suspension is now a big question mark offensively. He's a likely candidate to go this summer with an expiring contract and deep minor league talent at the catcher position.Seahawks08 wrote:To be fair, Revere wasn't supposed to suck this bad, so hopefully he comes out of his funk. On the bright side, Kendrick has looked as good as anybody.

Ruiz is a lock to go this year anyway, and that was even before the drug suspension. He'll be 35 when he plays his next contract next year - you just don't re-up on catchers in their mid 30's, especially when he was just a so-so offensive player before anyway. They didn't bring in the young talent in the minors just to pay an old catcher to handle the major league club.
I like that Dom Brown has started to show improvement - better at bats, seems more comfortable. He's a major league outfielder, even if he never lives up to the hype that surrounded him when he was trade-bait.
The bright side is that the Nats and Braves aren't running away with anything this year - both of those teams are going to struggle enough that the Phils can hang in there and maybe even win this division. But even then, just getting in the playoffs would be good. The Phils need Utley and Young to really produce this year and that will give some cover for Howard. It would be great for the whole lineup to hit, but you're just never going to get real production from Revere and Mayberry and the catcher position. Just have to hope the big boys can come through.

Re: Phillies 2013 "Road to Redemption" Thread
Going to have to disagree here on 2 of the 3. I'll give you Mayberry since he seems to be just an average player who really isn't going to ever be a starting OF. But to say the phils won't get real production out of Revere and Ruiz is nonsense. Revere had a nice season last year hitting .294 with a .333 OBP and 40 steals. Plus, he's only 25 years old. He will improve as the year goes on. And Ruiz will most likely revert to his .280 average, .350+ OBP which is nothing to sneeze about. It would be great for the whole lineup to hit, but you're just never going to get real production from Revere and Mayberry and the catcher position. Just have to hope the big boys can come through.

Let's see if Hamels can get a W against AZ tonight. He's up against another unknown young pitcher, which has been a real problem for the Phils this year.

Re: Phillies 2013 "Road to Redemption" Thread
The Phils & John Mayberry specifically reach a new low last night and getting thrown out on a 9-6 fielder's choice.
Also, looks like some outward dissension in the ranks last night in the 5th with Rollins & Utley told to play back & concede the 1st run last night after playing up the previous pitch. J-Roll looked none too happy about it.

Didi made several spectacular plays, as did Goldy (one which the Ump totaly fucked up by calling the clearly out Phillies runner safe. Parra threw out a runner at SECOND on a blooper.

Must be pretty exciting in Montana. You're taking joy in watching an over the hill team on the east coast lose? Do you also follow Gaelic Football and Midget Wrestling?grizzaholic wrote:And the Phillies decide not to win again.
Side note: need any .223 brass? I'm building up quite the collection and I doubt I'll ever do anything with it. I just popped off another 120 rounds yesterday. I don't know what the best brass is for reloads. All mine is once fired new. A mix of LC, Fed, Rem, PMC, Privi, probably others

I am always looking for brass and a few of those brands I will reload but the others get melted down into brass ingots.
