Sophomore running back Anthony Knight, who began spring camp No. 1 on the Wolf Pack’s depth chart
The 6-foot-1, 225-pound Knight came to Nevada amid a lot of hype. He Boston native originally committed to North Carolina State before changing course and signing with Nevada. He was one of the most lauded signings in recent Wolf Pack history.
.....................................disclaimer.............................................

I'm not going to say whatever he did to get suspended was nothing. I'm not going to say that he is going to be an instant starter and run all over the BSC. What I will say is sometimes these transfers work and sometimes they don't. If he comes in works hard and buys into what Coach Ash and the team are selling, then everything will work out for him.
“Tony’s no longer with the program,” Wolf Pack coach Brian Polian told the RGJ after Monday’s practice. “It was a mutual decision. There’s a standard that’s set here and guys have to reach that standard. If they don’t, they’re not going to be around. I don’t think Tony’s a bad guy. I wish him the best.”
I'd be more worried about a guy not meeting his coach's standards than one busted drinking alcohol underage. I'm not trying to rip on MSU. Montana has acquired "top recruits" from FBS programs who seemed to have only a minor issue, like smoking pot, trip them up at a BCS school. They're good athletes, but never quite reach their potential and in some cases don't out perform the athletes already on the roster.
If a transfer is in good physical shape, has good grades, was No. 1 at the position of his choice and still can't stick, something's up.

Anthony Knight, a highly touted running back who announced he was transferring to Montana State on Twitter last month, was arrested on two felony charges in Reno on Friday.

Knight and Avery Poates, both who were dismissed from the Nevada football team earlier this spring, were charged with attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. Knight was also charged with misdemeanor possession of less than one ounce of marijuana. The 6-foot-1, 225-pounder, Nevada’s No. 1 running back for the first few weeks of the Wolfpack’s spring drills, was also arrested last week for reckless driving, disregarding personal property and no proof of insurance.
In a statement released Monday, Montana State said Knight contacted the school about potentially transferring, but never became part of the program.

Thank god you dodged that bullet. :coffee:

Since when does smoking pot make one a thug?

I'd be surprised if Tevin McDonald hasn't been tested at least once already. He was here for most of Spring ball.

I'd wager that drinking alcohol is more likely to make one engage in "thug"ish behavior more than smoking pot, would.

But then I'd say that attempted robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, reckless driving, and disregarding personal property do fall into the category of thuggish behavior.

Dodged a bullet. Or it grazed our arm. Either way not a big deal. Glad he did this before he got on campus.
