I think you guys are being far too harsh with regards to a woman who accomplished so much, especially during a time and in a profession where sexism was rampant and extremely obstructive to women like Helen Thomas. I don't have any argument in defense of her actions later in life - she, like many other journalists, eventually morphed into believing that they were the news story, or at least a large actor in any news story, and let their opinions and prejudices interfere with the story they reported on. But the lady deserves a lot of credit and acknowledgement that she worked extremely hard to overcome a decidedly sexist environment for much of her life, at least the younger part of it. She went from fetching doughnuts and coffee for her male peers to sitting front and center (see, again, the need later in life to be the center of a story to the detriment of the story) at White House press conferences. Well done her.
