A disastrous pit stop for Mark Webber (Red Bull) as the crew hadn't fully installed the right rear tire when the jack was released. The car launches forward and the rear tire flies off the car and hits a cameraman.

Considering the original pit was botched and how much time it took to roll the car back, Webber is now in last (non-retired) and will probably stay there.

edit: the cameraman is ok.

Jules Bianchi's (Marussia) engine blows up and he retires. After he got out, the car interestingly starts rolling back after being stationary and crosses the track (luckily no cars).

Grosjean (Lotus) is quickly gaining on the race leader, Vettel (Red Bull). Lotus is also running in 3rd with Raikkonen. If they can pull it off, it'd be their 2nd win of the year and HUGE for their contructors' points.

edit: Webber rejoins the back of the pack thanks to the safety car.

Vergne (Torro Rosso) retires because of a hydraulic problem. It's his 4th retirement of the year.

Huge day for Lotus as it finishes 2-3. Vettel's Red Bull finishes in 1st, winning his first GP on home soil; he becomes the first German driver to win the German GP in seven years (Schumacher being the last).

1. Vettel/Red Bull
2. Raikonnen/Lotus
3. Grosjean/Lotus
4. Alonso/Ferrari
5. Hamilton/Mercedes
6. Button/McLaren
7. Webber/Red Bull
8. Perez/McLaren
9. Rosberg/Mercedes
10. Hulkenberg/Sauber

Next up is the Hungarian GP in three weeks.

It's too bad more people don't watch F1 in the states. It's an easy sport to follow since there's only ~20 races that last ~2 hours (all on weekend mornings which don't often get in the way of stuff). Plus the tracks vary, the grands prix are all over the world, and the cars are ridiculously awesome. The only downside is that every season, there's usually 3-4 truly top-tier vehicles competing for the cup and the rest of the teams are simply also-rans. But that's the nature of the beast when cars are individually engineered instead of spec.

Hopefully one day there might be an American team to cheer for.

edit: Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) won the HGP today, but the big story is Kimi Raikkonen (Lotus) taking second and moving up to 2nd in the Driver's Cup. As a team, Lotus is now 5 points behind third place Ferrari for the Constructor's Cup and seem to be making a second-half season push for a Top 3 finish. Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) and his team are still comfortably in 1st for each cup though.

Next up is the Belgian Grand Prix one month from now.

Bump. After a month without races, the Belgian GP is tomorrow morning. Hamilton (Merc), who won the last GP, will start on pole position for the fourth consecutive time. Vettel (Red Bull) will start 2nd.

Vettel (Red Bull) wins his 5th GP of the season and is closing in on his 4th consecutive Drivers' Championship...and Red Bull is also closing in on its 4th consecutive Constructors' Cup.

Results:
1. Vettel/Red Bull
2. Alonso/Ferrari
3. Hamilton/Mercedes
4. Rosberg/Mercedes
5. Webber/Red Bull
6. Button/McLaren
7. Massa/Ferrari
8. Grosjean/Lotus
9. Sutil/Force India
10.Ricciardo/Toro Rosso

Raikkonen's (Lotus) DNF today with a brake issue sent him from 2nd to 4th in the Drivers' Championship.

Next up is the Italian GP at the Monza Circuit in two weeks.

Hey Trip. If you are into GP racing, Baltimore is having theirs this weekend.
"Elaine, you're from Baltimore, right?"
"Yes, well, Towson actually."

Either way it's just a parade. IRl is more colorful with almost every car having a unique paint job.

I like F1 more 'cause its not spec racing, and that the cars are marvels of engineering. Plus each team has an equal amount of cars (two), so it's not like rich teams can send out three while others only have one.

The fact that they race on circuits around the world is also appealing.
