Hamels gets win #4 at Nats' expense, and Tony the Bastard gets the nail-biting save!

The Phils are actually playing watchable baseball again. Sure, it may not last, but at least it's enjoyable to watch again.

Every time we make a comment like this they bust off a five game losing streak.

Be careful.

Give them credit winning the last 3 series over teams with better records.

I wasn't making any prediction of the future, let alone even the next game. All I was referring to was the game I just watched. I take it one game at a time realizing this team has the potential to just go in the crapper at a moments notice.

On the bright side, it is good that Amaro didn't listen to the fans and dump Revere back in May like many were clammoring for. Kid won't ever have a real outfield arm, but he's doing the other things well.

Phils reach .500 at All Star break. Paps blows another save. Mayberry hit wins it in 10th.

Phillies Nation reports that Papschmear has lost over 2 mph on his fastball and over 7 mph on his slider since 2009! :o

Brad Lidge, Part Deux?

The Phils have been a good second half team under Manuel, but I think the best that can be hoped for is 85 wins, which won't be good enough for the playoffs. Much as I hate to see it, I think the Phils should be sellers at the deadline.

This team can be better by selling. Trade Michael Young and Papelbon. You can trade Ruiz too as he was proven a fraud since last year when he juiced. Bring Asche up to play 3b and have Bastardo get a shot at closing. Get prospects back and build.

Don't forget 3 errors and a bunch of walks. The last two Tigers games epitomized the problems of this Phillies team: little talent, no guts, no leadership. :ohno:

I like those trades. Young is too old to keep around and you don't want to pay Ruiz when he's going to be 35 on Opening Day next year - you'd be crazy to pay for a catcher that old. You didn't trade for those young catchers last year just to keep an old one.

They have won (I think) 23 or their last 27 games. That's a pretty amazing streak.
