Not so good by our 400 women. And Montsho gets edged out for 1st.

While I like how positive you are about Wilson, I'd say wait 2 or 3 years before she goes big in an international championship races - no WC or Olympics next year.

Wilson would do great to be sub 1:59. If she can make it to the finals that is even better, but I almost expect this to be a good learning experience for her where she should make it out of the heats but may have trouble getting to the finals. Same with Cain who in the 1500 struggled to move on in the heats but did it. I give Cain a little more of a chance based on this season to get to the finals of the 1500 than I do Wilson in the 800 but would like to see them both do it.

Barring something strange, Martinez and Montano should be our top 2 women this year in the 800. At least 1 of those 2 should medal.

Yeah I know Ajee's parents both are avid runners so as the saying the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.Yes it would be something if she made the 800 finals the local media should write a huge story on her if she does!!!

The youngster in Cain and Simpson both move on to the Finals in the 1500. Cain apparently ran most of the race in lane 2 staying out of trouble but running a lot of extra distance

Aman runs really well in the 800 to win it all with Symmonds right behind him in 2nd. Solomon fades at the end to finish 6th after taking the lead early.

Good showing by the Americans today with 2 Americans in both the Men's and Women's 400 hurdles finals.

Still 2 Americans left in the Men's 400 final today and Jen Suhr is in the lead in the PV based on fewer misses with only 3 vaulters remaining

Yeah - good for Cain. Great future (and present) for US Middle Distance/Distance running. Only going to be a Junior in HS this year and making the finals of Worlds after breaking basically every single HS record from 800m and up. And she seems to be a good person not really letting things get to her head from what it sounds. Wonder if she gives up all HS and College eligibility after Worlds and turns pro. With her current ability, college won't be enough of a challenge and will hurt her on an international scene (too many races) and HS is already a joke which she didn't race this year.

She is already being coached by Salazar and I am sure Nike will step up and pay her something.

Not much going on on the track today but good day for the American runners

All 3 1500 men and 5000 Women advanced to the semis and finals respectively.

In other news, we suck at walking. How can you be in the WCs when you finish 22 minutes behind the 2nd to last place person and almost an hour behind the winner in the 50k racewalk? Oh yeah. That is the top US race walker. We really shouldn't send anyone if we are that uncompetitive.

Only other events today were Long Jump qualifications - only Dwight Phillips makes the finals and Women's Hammer Throw - 2 of 3 Americans qualified for the finals.

There was no afternoon (morning for us) session today - only the morning session (late night/early morning for us since this is Russia)

Coming up tomorrow are finals in the 3000 M Steeplechase (outside shot at a medal with Jager), Men's and Women's 400 Hurdles (several medal opportunities) and Women's 1500 Meter hurdles with defending WC Simpson and young star Mary Cain. In the field, the finals are in Men's HJ (possible medal with Kynard) and women's Triple Jump (no US qualifiers)

Your Women's 800 M youngster Ajee Wilson runs in her heat tomorrow.

Looks like all 4 American women in the 200 and 3 in the Women's 800 qualified for the semis including Wilson who ran a 2:00 which is a respectable heat time. The semis will be tougher as she has the slowest PR of her heat but only 4 of the 7 others in her heat have faster times this year. Top 3 in each semi plus next 2 fastest overall will move on to the finals Both other Americans are in the other semi.

No qualifiers in the Men's Javelin (no surprise) but 3 in the Men's shot (where we are always strong) and 1 in the Women's HJ (where it looks like we could medal).
