Its actually more likely for EWU to have great receivers this year than not. Given the last 10 years. Cmon griz fans... give credit where credit is due..

Kimble
vijil
Mcintyre
Boyce
Brown
TouchDown Tony Davis
Ashton
Edwards
Herd
Kaufman

to name a few, and Ill spare ya the tight ends..

Again, assuming he picks up where he left off in 2011. I don't think that's just a "given" at this point.
Yet somehow the Eagles lose three receivers to the NFL and EWOOO fans here don't think there'll be an issue because apparently there's more NFL level talent in the wings....kind of like MSU losing their top 5 players on defene (and two more to injury since then) and claiming they won't miss a beat....it's a **** miracle!
Why are you dragging MSU into this. Your fight is with EWU.

I guess that's just fans being fans. I saw on here several Griz fans thinking similar last season, when you lost your head coach, two coordinators and your QB all in the off-season. Many Griz fans thought you wouldn't skip a beat.

The Payton Award is pretty much a lock (barring injury, of course), but it seems to me that a player so utterly transcendent at this level would get at least some buzz on the Heisman front. Thoughts?
Also, it's good to be back! Can't wait to cheer on those Grizzled Giants as they humiliate an over-matched App. St. squad in Missoula on 8/31! Ha!
It will be interesting to see how the Boys of Boone handle the awesome spectacle of Wa-Griz on a gorgeous late-summer day, filled to the brim with 25,000 of the most rabid and knowledgeable fans in the world!
Oh Montana, You are Marvelous!! :notworthy:  :agree:
I don't want to leaf through 100 posts on this subject, I'm sure half of them are the usual arguments between Griz fans and EWU fans, but if you are serious, let me put some light on it.

Out of high school, Johnson got nothing from the Ducks and little from the Beavers. His only other DI offer came from Portland State (Boise State recruited him hard, but I don't think they offered him a scholarship). He did have a great year in 2011, but last year he spent more time in a courtroom than on the field (right or wrong makes no difference). He has a new coach and, at least, a new philosophy of which to learn. I have not seen many publications projecting him as a Payton winner so that may not be as much of a lock as one might think. The Heisman is a different animal as you have to impress voters from all over the country that mainly stick to watching the FBS (and most in the South only see SEC and that's it). Heisman winners from the Pac-12 need to have a phenominal year even to get recognized by the SEC-loving voters. For Johnson to even be considered, he would have to be the clear leader on the Griz this year and they would have to not only make the championship game, but win the championship as well. Also, realize that with the Griz not playing any FBS or BCS team this year, that will also hinder any chance that Johnson may have at the Heisman (if he even has one at all). A dominate game against a lone FBS or BCS team would have got him on the radar in some circles, but Johnson does not have that chance this year.
