Could be one of Montana's biggest challenges to date from what Big Sky fans are saying. I think otherwise.

NAU is always tough at home and they can put points on the board.

If Montana loses during the regular season it will most likely be against NAU or Montana State. Doesn't mean it will happen.

I still can't put that NAU loss to Sac State out of my mind when looking at this. UM's D seems to be the best unit on the field which should allow them to get out of town for a victory.

Yes, but not against the Griz:

2005: 23-0
2003: 59-21 (NAU favored to win)
2001: 38-27 (was 38-0)
1999: 42-23

Griz have had some close ones at home- I say the Lumberjacks pull one off at Flagstaff.

I think the Griz will win this one 31-27.

I don't see this game as a problem for the Griz. No offense to Jerome Souers and his Lumberjacks...he has put out some of the better teams the last couple of years in the BSC, along with this years team, but I think UM just matches up too well to NAU. I think it will come down to run defense for both teams and UM is better going both ways. I think if the Griz get upset in the regular season this year it will be to Montana State in Bozeman (def. possibility again due to matchups) or Idaho State in Pocatello (even though they're at the bottom of the BSC, Griz seem to struggle against ISU whether at home or on the road). And who knows with PSU...they've really stunk it up but have the talent to do better, although recently they don't seem to do very well at Wa-Griz.

Then again, you can't really look back at previous years to determine the outcome of this year's game.

Anyways, I'd have to guess 35-14 Montana from what I've seen/read of the two teams...

NAU has beaten Montana two straight times in this pattern:

1987 -- 1997 -- ?? could it be 2007 is again their year? I don't think so, especially, if our OC can get creative again.

Griz -- 26
NAU -- 10

Make that THREE straight:

1967
NAU 7
UM 10

1977
UM 24
NAU 25

1987
UM 17
NAU 24

1997
UM 24
NAU 27

2007
UM ??
NAU ??

I predict that the streak ends here, narrowing the all time XXX7 edge to 3-2 NAU.

We shall see.
The Griz seem a bit off this year. They are still the class of the Big Sky.

good game by the Griz. NAU got a couple of big plays but the Griz held! Alex Watson has some set of wheels. That boy has some speed..WOW.

That last drive by the Griz, over 4:00, to end the game showed they really came together. If that holds the Griz could be coming into their own!
