I get Beckett is really good, but for him to change his aiming point mid stride like that and be that accurate seems improbable.
I didn't look intentional at all, and he had indeed started his motion before the ump signaled for time...

For those who don't see it as being intentional...open your fucking eyes. The umpire stepped out of the box calling time out and Beckett whipped it at Abreu's head. 6 games is not enough in my eyes.

Re: [*]f**k YOU MLB!
It's not my bias against the Sox here. Beckett was a low-life piece of shit when he was with the Marlins too. He's a headcase. He deserves everything he's getting. He shouldn't be suspended for 6 games, he should be suspended for 6 starts. That's the way suspensions should work with all pitchers. Because you know damn well they'll alter the rotation so that he only misses 1 start, which is a load of shit.

Seriously, why the fuck is it necessary to bring up the Yankees here? It's not. Not at all.

OH the good times to be had sitting at a table, drinking a beer with UNH sitting across Willie while a Sox/Yanks game is on the TV. OH the fun to be had. I can dream.

Watch it again, Becket starts his motion before the ump starts the TO signal, and Abreu barely stepped back at all. It wasn't head hunting.Willie wrote:For those who don't see it as being intentional...open your fucking eyes. Look where Varitek's mitt is...he's calling for knee high, outside corner. If Beckett sees the ump pulling up and other motions like that I can see his release going real bad real fast.Willie wrote:Look where Varitek's mitt is...he's calling for knee high, outside corner. exactly... concentration is lost by the umpire jumping up calling timeout... as I have said crazy things happen with pitches once that happens...clenz wrote:If Beckett sees the ump pulling up and other motions like that I can see his release going real bad real fast.Willie wrote: Look where Varitek's mitt is...he's calling for knee high, outside corner. They should make it so all an umpire does is yell timeout... the batter and catcher would definately here it... they throw their hands because the pitcher may not hear it... Let the pitch proceed and it not count... the catcher being right there knows timeout was called so there cant be an argument about not counting the pitch

Bull fucking shit... he is a major league pitcher. the concentration he has is unmatched. We aren't talking about a fucking middle school game here. it's the red sox, so take of your flaming red sunglasses and think about it. THEN he was a douche about it.

Re: [*]f**k YOU MLB!
I don't think you can say that the pitch location was deliberate. I doubt Beckett, or anyone for that matter, could have formed so much malice aforethought in the fractions of a second that elapsed from when he thought he was throwing a genuine pitch to when he saw the umpire called timeout. Most likely, the late timeout call caused a disruption in his delivery and caused the pitch to run away from him.
In any event, as I read MLB's statement, Bob Watson issued the suspension not because of the pitch, but based on Beckett's aggressive actions after the pitch, in moving toward Abreu, which precipitated the clearing of the two benches. If Beckett had not left the mound, and perhaps acted more contrite, there would have been no suspension.

All Beckett had to do was to go stand on the right field warning track - no way Abreu goes out there. The whle situation would have been avoided.
Re: [*]f**k YOU MLB!
How many pitchers stay on the mound between pitches ever? Does this mean that the next time a batter walks towards the pitcher a couple steps before heading to first he is going to get a 6 game suspension? I sure hope so.JoltinJoe wrote:I don't think you can say that the pitch location was deliberate. Re: FUCK YOU MLB!
This just in: A quick straw poll on Beckett's suspension has revealed the following...
Among those who feel that Beckett got a raw deal in the form a 6-day suspension, it's been found that 98% of them are Red Sox fans. A further breakdown has shown that those who believe this to be a tragic miscarriage of justice are the "douche-bag" variety of Red Sox fans. We have a clip of one right here:

The suspension was reduced to 5 games and Beckett will not miss a start.
Re: [*]f**k YOU MLB!
I think suspending pitchers is dumb. a 10 day suspension is only a 2 game suspension for most starters. For starters it should be suspended 2 starts, or whatever.BlueHen86 wrote:The suspension was reduced to 5 games and Beckett will not miss a start.
