Big Sky Predictions 9-7
7-5 so far, terrible start to the season. However, picking the Big Sky games is going to be tough throughout the year so it will start to get interesting. I need a good week this time. Here are this week's prediction. Sacramento State starts on Thursday so I had to get them out early. Have at them!
CP at Fresno State---The Mustangs looked good against San Diego but now they have to move up to the FBS. It would be nice to see them get a win here as it probably will be competitive, but Fresno State is favored to take the Mountain West's West Division, opposite of Boise State. Too much firepower for the Mustangs to overcome...Fresno State 31, CP 20.
Western Oregon at EWU---After their very impressive win last week at Oregon State, the Eagles open up their home slate with a game against the DII's Western Oregon. Should be fairly easy given how they looked last week, but it also showed that they need to be ready to play. It would be interesting to hear the talk if Western Oregon wins, given the close proximity between Monmouth and Corvallis...EWU 35, Western Oregon 14.
Dixie State at ISU---The Bengals get their season started with a home tilt against the DII's Dixie State. It took an extra week but the Bengals can finally play some football. They better be prepared or they could be in for a long show. But even they should be able to win...ISU 28, Dixie State 10.
MSU at Southern Methodist---The Bobcats looked really strong last week at home against Monmouth, and now they go to Southern Methodist for what was supposed to be a money game. But given what happened in the conference and on the national stage, this may have turned into a must win for the Bobcats to keep up...MSU 31, Southern Methodist 26.
South Dakota State at UND---The former Sioux took care of Valparaiso early and often last week at home. But this week will be a bit tougher as they bring in a great South Dakota State team. They want to be taken seriously as a possible contender for the conference title and this game could prove it...UND 28, South Dakota State 26.
CSU-Pueblo at UNC---The Bears got the win last week over the NAIA, something that has been difficult for them in past years. They are eager to show that this year will be different and this week they get DII's own CSU-Pueblo. They won against the NAIA, can they beat a DII (and more importantly, will it carry over to wins in conference)?...UNC 32, CSU-Pueblo 12.
PSU at California---The Vikings looked strong against an outclassed Eastern Oregon team. Now it is their turn to feel outclassed as they head down to play the Pac-12's California team. California may not have much, but the Vikings still may not be able to stop them...California 31, PSU 14.
Sac State at Arizona State---The reason for the lackluster offensive showing the Hornets had last week against San Jose State could possibly be because they were not playing the Pac-12 where they are 2-0 over the last two years. They get their wish this week as they move up to the Pac-12, playing at Arizona State. Can they find the magic for the third time?...Arizona State 23, Sac State 10.
Fort Lewis at SUU---This was to be a rebuilding year for the Thunderbirds, yet they took the money from South Alabama and left with the win. This week they return home for a date with the DII's own Fort Lewis squad. A chance to start the year 2-0 and just reload. Should be easy...SUU 38, Fort Lewis 10.
UCD at Nevada---The Aggies woes continue after last week's loss to South Dakota in a matchup of two conference cellar dwellers. This week, they move up and play the Mountain West's Nevada team. Maybe the Aggies can surprise and keep it close, but that is a very tall order...Nevada 38. UCD 7.
WSU at Utah---The Wildcats surprised some people with their game last week at home against Stephen F Austin and they are now rewarded for the next two weeks by playing their big instate brothers of the FBS. First up is the Pac-12's Utah team. If they can keep it close, they may have a shot at the upset. Well, maybe a slim shot anyway...Utah 24, WSU 17.

Re: Big Sky Predictions 9-7
CP at Fresno State---CP has a fighter's chance here, but I don't think they pull it out: Fresno State 34, CP 17.
Western Oregon at EWU---If this game is within 4 TD's, EWU should consider it a loss...EWU 45, Western Oregon 10.
Dixie State at ISU---The high point of ISU's season: ISU 35, Dixie State 21.
MSU at Southern Methodist---Bobscats have a history of shitting down their leg in big games...SMU 34, MSU 21.
South Dakota State at UND---SDSU is supposed to be the second coming of Christ in the MVFC. If UND wins, Montana better strap on their helmets next weekend. South Dakota State 31, UND 28.
CSU-Pueblo at UNC---Are the Bears moving back to DII? Two games in, and not a single Division 1 school played yet...I guess you do whatever it takes to pad that win total...they will officially be 0-0 after this weekend. UNC 35, CSU-Pueblo 14.
PSU at California---Cal should absolutely ROLL PSU...this ain't some soft Oregon State team. California 41, PSU 10.
Sac State at Arizona State---23-10, JALMOND??? Really? I'm guessing this game could be 35-0 by HALFTIME. Arizona State 45, Sac State 10.
Fort Lewis at SUU---Sweet Jesus, is Fort Lewis still around?...SUU 38, Fort Lewis 3.
UCD at Nevada---I think this one may be closer than projected. Nevada 31, UCD 17
WSU at Utah---I see no way Weber keeps this close. Utah ain't SFA. Utah 35, WSU 10.
Western Oregon at EWU---If this game is within 4 TD's, EWU should consider it a loss...EWU 45, Western Oregon 10.

There is no way the Utah/Weber game will be close, All Utah has to do is pass on us and they will rack up some points.

I'd just like to point out that CSU-Pueblo has been very, very good recently... you guys are writing them off just as so many FBS teams write us off

Re: Big Sky Predictions 9-7
CSU P is a good D2 team in a not-so-good conference (RMAC). The Wolf Pack have been in the top 10 D2 spots the past couple years including a stint as #1. However RMAC teams are only allowed to have 24 scholarships so they usually get bounced in round 1 or 2.
UNC meanwhile might with out the services of 6 STARTERS due to suspensions. They also sat out last Saturdays win against Langston. Bumpas and Jace Davis are those included who might still be suspended.
I still think we win without the starters back, but it might be closer than some might be comfortable with.

Being mid-pack in a very good FCS conference, you should be able to handle any DII program that comes your way. Especially when they are in the same state as you.Brock Landers wrote:I'd just like to point out that CSU-Pueblo has been very, very good recently... you guys are writing them off just as so many FBS teams write us off

Why are you convinced Oregon State was soft? That was a very physical team, especially on offense. Their defense was physical as well, but at the end of the day that were out-schemed and out-coached.AZGrizFan wrote:CP at Fresno State---CP has a fighter's chance here, but I don't think they pull it out: Fresno State 34, CP 17.

Thursday
Sac State 9-37 Arizona St. — The Sun Devils should have just enough to end the Sac/Pac-12 curse
Saturday
Woregon 10-44 EWU — Classic letdown game…
Portland St. 21-48 Cal — PSU's defense isn't good enough to take down a not-terrible FBS
Cal Poly 17-42 Fresno — The Bulldogs were shredded through the air by Rutgers; fortunately CP won't do that
UC Davis 14-54 Nevada — A match made in heaven: Nevada gave up 58 points last week, Davis scored 7
Dixie 20-48 Idaho St. — Good thing for Idaho State they scheduled weak non-DIs
Ft. Lewis 3-58 Suutah — Fort Lewis was awful last year, just awful…
Weber 17-56 Utah — Last week's result was surprising, this one won't be
Montana St. 17-41 SMU — Winning in the Texas heat against a decent FBS team just isn't likely
CSU-Pueblo 24-38 NoCo — The ThunderWolves are a really good DII, but NoCo won't be undermanned this week
SoDak St. 35-17 NoDak — This could get real ugly if the No-Nicks haven't upgraded their run defense
Sac State 9-37 Arizona St. — The Sun Devils should have just enough to end the Sac/Pac-12 curse

Re: Big Sky Predictions 9-7
Sac State at Arizona St. : It would be nice to see the Pac 12 winning streak extend to 3 years running but that won’t happen. I think this game will be a massacre.
Woregon at EWU: EWU in a blowout.
Portland St. at Cal: Blowout loss.
Cal Poly at Fresno: CP keeps it close early.
UC Davis at Nevada: Blowout loss.
Dixie at Idaho St.: Blowout win.
Ft. Lewis at Suutah: Blowout win.
Weber at Utah: WSU stay close for a quarter.
Montana St. at SMU: MSU keeps it close.
CSU-Pueblo at NoCo: Blowout win.
SoDak St. at NoDak: No idea on SoDak State, went with the BSC team.
Home team sweep...wonder which pick will be wrong...

Sac@ASU - sun devils smoke the hornets. 56-14 Sun Devils
WSU@Utah - Utes are way to much for weber, but weber might be way better than initially thought. 35-21Utes
Colorado-pueblo@NCO Bears get it done. 33-16 Bears
PSU@Cal Golden Bears are too big, and deep for PSU to keep up with. 49-17 Cal
Dixie State@ISU Krammer will probably smack a few players around before this one is through. 28-22 Bengals
Western Oregon@EWU eastern's 2nd string should be in after 1 quarter, but they wont. 77-12 eagles
SDSU@UND should be a great game, I see it won in the last 2 mins of the game 30-27 jack rabbits
Fort Lewis@SUU bye week for the thunderbirds 44-20 Thunderbirds
MSU@SMU Bobcats put up a fight but too thin on D 55-52 Mustangs
UCD@Nevada wolf pack destroys the aggies 70-10 Nevada
CP@Fresno State another close FCSvsFBS game 33-27 Fresno

Re: Big Sky Predictions 9-7
I'll be at the MSU at SMU game.
I'm nervous for my Mustangs but not because of the Bobcats but because of the Mustangs themselves.
I'll pick my Ponies for the win. I haven't thought about a score yet.
My football coach friend in the room says SMU will win 35 -- 17!
The way things are going for us at SMOO I'd take it and be momentarily happy.

This is weird. Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Northern Colorado lost to Southern Colorado, but the link to the box score identifies the winner, as we all expected, as Pueblo State. Pueblo won 41-36. The second half was even; it was a 28-point second quarter that won it for Pueblo.
So, while my score was way off, I think I was the only one to predict THIS one. I would have been VERY happy to have lost on my prediction for the PSU game, though....

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

SH, you are ALWAYS the ONLY one to pick that type of upset. If you had a better reputation for your pics, this would be something to brag about, but as it stands it is just a fluke.SuperHornet wrote:This is weird. Yahoo! WTF are you two idiots blabbering about? Where did I say, imply or otherwise infer that Oregon State was soft?Screamin_Eagle174 wrote:Because he's a Griz fan, and therefore it's in his nature to dismiss the accomplishments of those teams that stand as an obstacle to the Griz winning the BSC.EWURanger wrote:
Why are you convinced Oregon State was soft? That was a very physical team, especially on offense. Their defense was physical as well, but at the end of the day that were out-schemed and out-coached.
