The Tub now accepts credit cards at the concession stands.

Mind you, the machines are agonizingly slow and actually end up increasing your time in line (more great UD customer service), but it is a step towards joining the rest of the industrialized world.

Another 113 years to go and we might get there.
Hmm didn't realize that - must be new this year.
They accepted credit cards in the past, but not at all food stands. The ones that backed up agains the fences (the outside part of the stadium) have always accepted credit cards, but the ones on the aisle closer to the field mostly didn't.

Line has stabilized at UD -2 after swinging from UD -3 to -1 yesterday.

With home field removed, this is essentially a pick 'em.

Yes, I was referring to the food stands on the inside. Those are the most important ones once the game starts. An occasional pulled pork sandwich just before halftime is a good thing. :thumb:

What was the old exchange rate....have your new, closer seats compensated for the faster snap count? :suspicious:

OK. According to the game notes 93 posted Giusti and Williams were starters, starting 1st 2 games. I knew Williams had to be a starter, as he was 3rd team All CAA last season a a true Fr..

Assume Schultz is a 2 deep?

According to UD's tailgating policies, among other things:
"..Personal porta-pots are not permitted in the parking lots...."
http://www.bluehens.com/fls/29100/pdf/P ... M_ID=29100" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Well, that sucks. I guess I won't be bringing my privy which literally pops up in seconds. Don't attach the bottom tarp, and you can just piss on the ground (better to be on grass). Just got it in Aug. I've used camping (for the girlfriend), at a NASCAR race, and a JMU game.

If the gf is with me I have this for her:

If I've got to drop a deuce, I'll just use a milk crate with a trash bag attached & squat over the crate. Better than using port o potties that within a couple hrs of the game or race are usually f'ing nasty...

A piss wall is ok, but not your own pisser....

Really not many bad seats in delaware stadium, I and my dad had season tickets for years in section M row pp top row of the east stands on about the 20 yd line. You could see every play developing from up there, so many great memories growing up at the tub in the 70's and 80's before I moved away. Still try to get back every year or two to see my blue hens play, just can't replicate the atmosphere of those childhood games. Never had a more electric atmosphere than the 1979 temple game, wow you would never believe 23,000 people could make that much noise, I remember the temple players saying it was louder than it was when they played at penn state. My last trip was the maine game a couple of years ago and I could'nt believe how friggin quiet it was except for the idiot they had on the pa sound, enough to deafen and irritate you at the same time. Anyhow, I think we had the best small college home field advantage in the country from the late 60's thru the 1990's, but from that experiience at that game against maine I have to believe no team is imtimadated anymore when coming to play at the tub. I hope maybe in the future that home field advantage will return, but I am afraid it may be thrown into the dustbin of history. Any fellow hen fans have a thought on this point? I welcome any comments or stories. GO HENS!! Smash JMU!!

Yep all correct. UD is 8-plus deep on the DL rotating guys, Schultz was one of them, he's had an unfortunate history of injury. One I forgot but who is supposed to play is RB Julian Laing who sat out vs Wagner.

There were some very loud games since 2000, but not as many as there used to be. As our crowd has aged, most people seem to have become quiet.

I've been all around the stadium in recent years and many people simply don't stand up (and several can't because they are old, fat, or just not into getting pushed around in tight quarters - tighter these days with bigger people)...and when you do, sometimes folks will ask you to sit down. WTF?

The students? The end zone is pretty energetic when they show up and stay for a quarter or two, but the ones that go up into the overflow section arrive very late and many of them spend the time texting and taking pictures of themselves instead of watching or cheering. :dunce:

3rd down? Not loud. I'm always yelling, my son is yelling, but most of the people are just sitting. We can hear ourselves clearly...but in the old days you could barely hear yourself over the crowd noise.

We'll see how the Tub is Saturday night. Hopefully, there will be noise.

I can second that observation. I usually stand up and pump a fist or similar after a big hit or play. This is foreign activity to the blue hairs. The old fucks look at me like I need to be committed. It's a good icebreaker though, and on the next big play I usually have a couple more old geezers jumping up, giving high fives, etc. At 42, I'm a solid 20 years under the median age of Section D. I'm bringing them around though.

I almost committed elder abuse one game last year though. I had my iPad with me and decided to take a picture with it. Next thing I know I feel something stick me in the rib cage and turn around to some old hag sticking me with her umbrella and she has a scowl on her face and says "put that down". I just laughed at her because I figured that would piss her off the most.

I just read UD beat writer Kevin Tresolini's column today in the News Journal.

JMU fans should be happy to hear that Taylor Reynold's family and church are bringing 275 people to root for him and JMU.

In addition, Delaware coach Dave Brock gave tickets to all players, coaches, family of Newark High football team.

Might not be a complete sellout, but that should add to the atmosphere.

UD had a big problem last season in CAA games of protecting the QB. It has seemed to be much better so far this season so we'll see come Saturday night how they fare. UD's line is experienced, they had 4 returning starters this year. But when pressure gets to Hurley his chances of making a poor decision increase big time. If JMU gets no pressure it could be a long night for JMU. Opponents have done what you've outlined - stack the box & try to stop run 1st & UD has successfully passed to open the run. Michael Johnson may be the best WR in the CAA - he should be & would be in the SEC if he doesn't hurt his knee in HS, he's been dominant so far. Nick Boyle (TE) and Rob Jones (WR) have been very effective as well.

UD also runs an Oregon style offensive attack now - Keeler used to preach it, but Brock actually runs one. The play clock will rarely get under 20 seconds. They no huddle & snap quickly - if JMU's thin on the DL I'd expect to see a lot of that offensive style then.

UD has a big & deep DL that does OK against the run but generates not a ton of pass rush. Kerr & Wallschleger are the best DL we have. LB's we're thin but the group is OK. DB is our most suspect position - I'm not sure I'd be worried about JMU throwing in obvious passing situations but I could see them hurting us on play action on 1st & 2nd downs - Navy made us look bad on those kind of plays.

Special teams sound like a draw - both Kickers sound very similar.
Maybe. I recorded & watched the DSU @ UD game, and he looks like a physical specimen. UD roster lists him at 6'2"/210. He looked bigger than that on TV.

Tre McBride for W&M might be the best WR in the CAA. Had a field day against JMU last season. Not just JMU. Saw the W&M @ WVU game, and he looked like the best WR on the field. Huge 1st half against the Mountaineers. 6'0"/200. A leaper, strong, good hands.

JMU has got a big receiver, Daniel Brown, a rJr, #10. 6'5"/220. Long way from when he came to JMU as a skinny 190 lb Fr. As an rSo last season went down for the season vs WVU in game 3. JMU's leading receiver with 13 receptions for 208 yds & a TD. Gonna present a matchup problem for anyone with short corners.
Nevermind. So far I've seen 5 televised games (VU twice, W&M twice, UD, URI) plus 3 of JMU's 4 games. Just got done watching recording SBU @ VU that I didn't have time to watch earlier in the week. Yeah, VU rolled and SBU has lost most of their talent from last yr, but #7 for SBU, listed at 6'4"/210, had an absolute field day vs VU. 10 cathes for 184 yds, 1 TD (and nearly another that he tightroped down the sideline was was ruled out of bounds). @ Buffalo had 10 catches for 122 yds, 2 TDs. Leads the CAA in receiving. Good chance will be playing on Sundays..

Numbers can be misleading at this point in time. Johnson has only played 1 full game basically all year as everything except Jacksonville were blowouts. You'll see tomorrow. You don't get 2 or 3 SEC offers by being average.
