A lot of the comments on billingsgazette.net are complaints because the writer said it was a conservative/republican function, but they all claim it was citizens from every walk of life.

I can tell you that the people in the last picture have all been in or run for the state legislature as a republican or are republican precinct committemen/women.

Even crazy guy, at least in his head. 8-)

Forget about the gop kyle, you are in the land of poly-gams, bug squashers, Big Love, and singing home to Zion.

From the looks of the two crowds, looks like Billings wins the category for "Most Nuttiest."

Cheyenne easily takes the award for "Most Hillbillyish" Here in Wyoming, black folks are supposed to come and play football and basketball at Laramie, then go away. I think Obama stands a much better chance of being lynched in Cheyenne than in Billings.

love the "secede" signs in the crowd...

i suppose this is the right wing version "i'm moving to canada" since there is nowhere in the world right wing enough for these guys.

by the way... if these folks are so pissed about spending, whey don't we "stop spending and start cutting" with Montana's federal welfare? For every dollar MT sends to "those thieves in Washington" they get back $1.60... so maybe we should start there... no? or is the spending on their state responsible... but "other states" where "they" live are the wasteful ones?

just curious.

In Wyoming we hardly pay any taxes. We are the nation's power plant. Oil, gas, coal, and minerals pay over 75% of our tax load in the state. For any Wyoming individual to claim they are now all of a sudden overtaxed is completely retarded.

Shows how easily led many of our citizens are, Faux News can get them this stirred up over a lie. I am embarrassed...for them.

Great point! Nobody around here understands that we are a perennial net federal spending winner. Our infrasrtucture would crumble without Fed money.

A polulation of 967,440 (44th)has a tough time paying for roads, bridges, etc. for 147,165 sq miles (4th).

I think Wyoming gets about $1.11 back for every dollar paid in.

That being said, I would argue that we are an extraction state for natural resources and agricultural products to the point were we are almost "colonial" in nature, as most profits end up out of state. So, I think it is fair for us to get that funding.

Takes a lot of bucks to keep those 700 mile long roads up to snuff!

Montana is a physically huge state, and that is a problem as it is nearly all rural. Your energy producing potential is enormous though, it's just that so much of it is locked away under layers of regulations and differing interests.

Nice that there's no sales tax! :D That sure helps me with my tax load.

Where would you go for big ticket items if there was a sales tax in MT?

thing is, I'm okay with the idea of helping MT keep it's roads in shape... we're all in this together... but it grinds my gears to hear this "stop welfare" language coming from states that are collectively the biggest "welfare queens" in the country. it's annoying as hell

btw... I like that MT has no sales tax... I'm against the damn things... regressive and bad for small businesses...
