Until I saw the Oregon State reference I WAS going to ask if any of the people who think EWU sucks have been noticing what Oregon State's been doing lately.
As far as McNeese/UNI goes: After the game, in order to keep my spirits up, I related the story of how in the NFL San Fransisco was beaten 40-8 by Philadelphia in the 49ers' 5th game of the 1994 season. I recalled how I watched that game and how the Eagles just flat dominated in every phase. Yet San Fransisco went on to finish as 16-3 Super Bowl champion with a dominant win over San Diego in the big game while Philadelphia finished 7-9 and didn't make the playoffs. Said that sometimes even very good teams have really bad games.
I noted that I didn't think what happened to Philadelphia would happen to UNI but cited it as an example that there can be hope after a horrendous beating like that.
Now I'm not so sure that it WON'T happen to UNI. The extent to which the Panthers' season suddenly turned South is truly remarkable.
