Don't really have much of an issue with the Shermator. A civil war that may have had some legal grounds but for morally reprehensible reasons doesn't exactly stir alot of fire in my belly.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:A friendly reminder from the United States of AmericaMarkCCU wrote:

Real protest means sacrifice

Protest is about using civil disobedience to make an important point. Because of that, the April 15 tax protest was ridiculous. It seemed to me to be mostly about dressing up in costumes and getting some air time on the TV network, Fox, an informal sponsor of the event. How foolish was that?
...
You can still be angry about taxes, but you shouldn't be an ingrate about them. It's not like all of the money is going to pay bonuses to executives at failing banks and dubious investment houses or to help scoundrels in the real estate market who got caught in midflip on some wretched investment property. There are people who actually needed help and are getting some.
...
Will the tax protests become more serious? No. The problem with getting the right-of-center middle class involved in much of anything is that it likes too much being right-of-center middle class. Going to jail for a couple of years to make a point is not part of the agenda. Call me when someone throws a garbage can through a plate glass window on LaSalle Street or at the Federal Reserve Bank.
