 I think it has to do with growing up playing hockey. Same season, COMPLETELY different philosophy on scoring, goaltending, body contact, etc... I really can't watch bball. I have no idea what is and isn't a foul or what is or isn't travelling... and I get the impression that neither do the refs.

I have been a hater of pro basketball for a long time now. But I absolutely love college basketball.
The college game is much better. I like a real zone defense at times. I like it when the ball is passed around, not just a dribble-drive or a two-man game. I don't care who is wearing the college uniform. It is that school vs. another school. It's all about the name on the front of the jersey. I don't need superstars on college teams in order to enjoy the college game. If they want to leave after one year, fine. NEXT!!!!!

The crowds in attendance are far superior in the college game. The people at NBA games don't have the vested interest that many college fans do.

best place to play college bball is at Mississippi Valley. Not only can you suffer heat stroke in that tiny ass gym but you can also be molested by the fans when you inbound the ball. :coffee:

Those tiny ass gyms with 6" to inbound and 3 half-court lines and a balcony to block any corner jump-shot were crazy, but unique.

Gil Dobie wrote:Some hype for the hometown team. The addition of Kelvin Martin will give the Wolves some outside shooting at the 2. He went 5-8 from 3 in an exhibition last night. Projected starting 5, Love, Rubio, Martin, Pekovic and Brewer should push for a playoff berth if healthy. Flip Saunders replacing David Kahn in the front office is a huge step up. They will actually have a basketball guy in the front office.
The Minnesota/Portland series will be a fun one to watch all year, provided both can stay healthy. You want a good year so Love will stay, we want a good year so Aldridge will stay.

If my clippers fall apart again this year I'm turning my fan card in and finding a new team.

Early front runners:
Thunder - huge Sonics fan growing up but stopped really pulling for them early in the move...slight bandwagon here with KD and Westbrook.

Bulls - I live 4 hours from Chicago in a Chicago dominated sports area be it bulls cubs sox black hawks etc... super easy to follow

Twolves - Grew up 9 miles from Minnesota and a fan of the Vikings and Twins...what another shitty Minnesota team?

Pacers - bandwagon pick...not sold on the long term joy of pitching them

or the courts with the volleyball court on it, all those extra lines can catch you if you don't pay attention.

I was in Greensboro in 1986 for a first round game between 16 Seed MVSU and 1 Seed Duke (Johnny Dawkins). MVSU gave them a hell of a fight, but eventually losing by 7 points.
For Duke, it was a wake up call where they pounded the 8 Seed Old Dominion Monarchs by 28 in the second round. :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

And then the game we played in Canada where the volleyball lines were more pronounced than the basketball court and whatever other lines they had on the court. They even tried the ole 6th man throwing the ball in from the bench trick, but it didn't work. Pretty funny though.

ESPN Link
SCHOENE (pronounced SHAY-nee) system pegs the Wolves as the fourth-most efficient offense in the NBA. Their projected offensive rating of 110.9 points per 100 possessions is on par with the two-time defending NBA champions. The system also projects the Wolves as the ninth-best defensive team by defensive efficiency, tabbed to allow 107.1 points per 100 possessions.

Pelton projects Minnesota will collect 52 wins in the regular season. All that adds up to a fifth seed for the Wolves. He ran 1,000 simulations, including the playoffs (where benches are typically shortened) and the Wolves made the playoffs in more than 96 percent of those simulated seasons.

Home teams are 2 for 2 on the night...but seeing that BOTH the Clips and the Lakers share Staples, it will be 3 for 3 either way

Blazers start tomorrow at Phoenix. Home opener Saturday against San Antonio. I got a ticket to the Houston game next Tuesday. Hoping I'll still have a voice after the Portland State/Weber State game to be able to give Howard a great "BOO!!!".
