Big South XC

Congrats to Liberty and Coastal! Liberty wins the men's conference championship, while CCU takes the women's crown.

I really don't know. Liberty hasn't had a national level runner since Sam Chelanga graduated, but there's always been good depth. I'm sure Mark could tell us something about CCU (if he cares to bother).

I don't care.

No, I don't pay attention to the women sports so I don't know.

Chelanga has the NCAA 10,000 track record of 27:08.49, set at Stanford 01 MAY 2010. Yes, he won the NCAA XC title in 2009 and 2010, only the 11th guy to win two. Chelanga won three consecutive Big South XC titles, and was named an All-American 14 times.

That's an amazing thing to contemplate....

Yeah Sam was no joke he held it down for the little man while at Liberty. He broke Henry Rono's long standing NCAA 10K mark something I thought was practically impossible.

Chelenga was definitely a great NCAA runner but was also 25 in 2010. That is older than other collegiate runners and closer to a track prime than the others. Still a great runner though.

Not sure all dates. Just know (according to Wiki) that he was born Feb 25,1985 and won the 2009 and 2010 National XC Champs. In between in the Spring of 2010, he ran the 10K that you noted. For perspective, Rupp was born in May 1986 and graduated in 2009 - I assume he redshirted a year to have graduated at 23 years old. Rupp edged Chelenga in the 2008 XC champs. Liberty's own Josh McDougal had won the 2007 title.
