So Hogan and 93, how did you know either candidate's real platform? 4-5 times a day for two months I'm bombarded with ads on the radio or TV from both candidates. So that's 240-300 ads I've seen or heard and not a SINGLE ONE of them stated the positions of the candidate running the ad. I've seen smear campaigns before, but this was by far the worst one I've ever seen. I could tell you all the "bad things" both candidates purportedly want to do, but not what they would really do.

McAulliffe doesn't sound anti-gun. Just common sense.

Just because he doesn't bend over for the NRA doesn't make him anti-gun.

Terry McAuliffe's campaign was that he wanted to be Governor and that Cuccinelli was not for us. Ken Cuccinelli's campaign was that Obama sucked. Seemed pretty clear to me.

Voted against a measure to lower taxes, not because I want high taxes but becauase the Republicans offered to alternative as to where the difference would come from. Also, there is substantial growth occuring in my county and with all the proposals to ease traffic, improve schools, hire more teachers and LE, etc.. it seems unwise to cut costs. If there was a plan put forth that said the difference would be made up by savings from X, Y, and Z then I may have voted to approve.

The exact issue is a 1% Sales Tax increase. Most of the money would be used to lower property taxes. The best part of this: both county Democrat and Republican parties oppose it.

That's the issue many times with lowering taxes. Generaly, Republicans want to lower taxes and then bitch about not having money for more LE or schools or roads. :ohno:

Not much for an election here. Mayor and 3 city council spots - one person for each spot - no race. City hospital board has 3 people running for two spots so I guess I'll go vote just for that one.

Baucus did the same thing last election to help get Tester reelected in Montana
Top Obama Bundler Bankrolling Libertarian Candidate In Virginia

Sarvis was polling at around 8 points, the difference between Cuccinelli and McAuliffe is predicted to be under that.

Via The Blaze:

A major Democratic Party benefactor and Obama campaign bundler helped pay for professional petition circulators responsible for getting Virginia Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Robert C. Sarvis on the ballot — a move that could split conservative votes in a tight race.

Campaign finance records show the Libertarian Booster PAC has made the largest independent contribution to Sarvis’ campaign, helping to pay for professional petition circulators who collected signatures necessary to get Sarvis’ name on Tuesday’s statewide ballot.

Austin, Texas, software billionaire Joe Liemandt is the Libertarian Booster PAC’s major benefactor. He’s also a top bundler for President Barack Obama. This revelation comes as Virginia voters head to the polls Tuesday in an election where some observers say the third-party gubernatorial candidate could be a spoiler for Republican Ken Cuccinelli.

Sarvis, who is Harvard '98, probably deserves to be elected on his merits. :twocents:

TBH and I aren't exactly sure where to vote/how it works with us this cycle - so we are evil bastards and didn't vote.

Our DL still have our Cedar Falls address but we don't own that house anymore - it was closed on last Wednesday. We now own our home in Marion but have no acceptable proof of residence in Marion as we didn't close until after 4PM on Friday - no DL, no utility bill, no cell bill, no nothing of any kind with our address on it that isn't "current resident" junk mail that has come the last 2 days.

I don't feel right voting in CF as it doesn't pertain to me anymore....I don't feel right voting in Marion (even if we could) because I no NOTHING of anyone of the candidates for anything down here. It really is best we sit it out

And the same thing was done in 2000 and 2004 to make sure Nader got on the ballots in many swing states.

I'll never relax as long as flaming liberals like McAuliffe try to disarm America. And it's not one issue with me. Obamacare needs to be repealed, Government needs to be shrunk (smartly), entitlements need to be reduced, etc. McAuliffe and Democrats stand in the way of all of those.

One if the write in candidates in the Marion city counsel election put a ballot in each mailbox with his name filled in on the ballot already.

Is that normal?

I just walked by the elementary school where my polling station is at (I live ~.5 miles away). The parking lot was packed. I don't care how those people vote, but I love seeing that!
