Finally, speaking for myself, I've said very plainly many time on this board and others that DHS will go down as the BIGGEST mistake made by Bush...bigger than Iraq...and so breaking up DHS and saving the money wasted on that massive overhead created would be a welcomed idea...but you notice the President hasn't (and won't) do that...

Regarding military cuts, I think the cuts outlined by Secretary Gate's are pretty much on target...there are programs I'd cut if I was king for a day that he didn't...and a few he did I might retain...but since defense is a Constitutionally mandated responsibility of the Federal Government, and bailing out banks and auto manufacturers isn't...I'm pretty much OK where he is right now with defense...
