Good for him.

Here's a question for ya... who gets All Big Sky honors for QB?

I'd say Vernon Adams 1st team, Garrett Safron 2nd team, and Justin Arias Honorable Mention.

It's interesting, because you could easily put Seth Lobato in there, and of course Denarius McGhee has had a fabulous career and might make the list as well.

I'm pretty sure Johnson will get 2nd. team. He is second in efficiency, about 20 points ahead of Safron & 40 points ahead of Arias (Arias isn't good there at all).

I don't know a thing about Arias, but when it comes to value to the team (including team performance), the only three I know of who are THAT important to team performance are Adams, Safron, and McGhee. The Kitties have been HORRIBLE this season when McGhee was down....

To be honest, they have been pretty bad with him in the game, too. People have said that maybe he isn't quite the same player as before the injury, and that could be the case. But he didn't seem hampered by anything when I watched him in the EWU and SUU games.

8 TDs vs 4 INTs aren't exactly all conference numbers.

McGhee would be a courtesy vote based on his career resume at Montana State. I like Safron, Arias, and Lobato largely because they don't have a great contingent around them. Jordan Johnson is certainly proficient, but being 4th in yardage with the talent Montana has on the roster causes him to not jump out at me.

I still say Adams and Safron are the 1st and 2nd stringers, the honorable mention is a little more debatable. I still say Arias, but wouldn't argue Lobato or a "lifetime achievement award" for McGhee.

So, to follow your logic, Adams must be doing it all by his lonesome? He has no talent surrounding him?

No... clearly Eastern has talent all over the field on offense. But he's earned first team IMO because his numbers still showcase his talent. He's #1, and #1 by quite a lot of margin, in almost every measurable category.

My point is that if two or three guys are close numbers-wise, and one guy is doing it by carrying a team on his back and the other just needs to manage an offense, I'd go with the guy carrying the team.

Passing yardage doesn't mean much aside from how often a team throws. Arias has a below average efficiency rating: he shouldn't be winning anything. Lobato has good receivers (like Davis), so he does have some talent around him. Safron has good receivers too (Carter & Norisse). I'm not saying it should go to an option QB with a high efficiency rating who throws it 8 times a game, but raw yardage shouldn't be the primary stat by which QBs are judged.

Johnson's yards-per-game #s aren't huge (though they still are good by national standards) because: 1) the Griz run it 56% of the time and, 2) he only played a half against Weber & played less than 1 quarter against Panhandle.

Aside from the no-show CP game, Safron has been money since week 3.

Yeah Safron has a couple respectable receivers to target as well.

Adams has sat out for a few quarters as well...garbage time isn't usually where you're going to rack up a bunch of passing yards anyway.

I think we saw last year what happens when it's not Jordan Johnson carrying this team. The myth that we could just plug in another QB and get the same results has been disproven. :coffee: :coffee:

McKinney, and/or hyphenated guy would probably be more effective this season given last year's experience. I mean, I don't think McKinney is bad.

Apparently the coaches think that. SSH is 4-13 in mop up duty. 4-13. !! And McKinney has yet to be allowed to throw a pass this year. :ohno: :ohno:

So was Johnson his first year. He's really improved his throwing.
