Montana lost a heartbreaker in the playoffs and then won the national championship two years later. Delaware did the same and have been watching from home ever since. Talk about quitting.
When is the last time the Griz were truly in the hunt for a championship? It ain't this year, as the Griz have become the Patriot League invitee of the West (hey, let's invite the Griz to the party...although we know they'll leave early).
Nobody fears the Griz in the playoffs anymore...they realize that outside of Missoula, the Griz become cute teddy bears that roll over and play dead.

Yeah, a 3 point loss, on the road, to the national runners-up after being down 21-0 is really "rolling over and playing dead".

I watched Fordham a little last weekend and I think both the Rams and EIU could surprise some people but lets not get carried away here. Doing well with a tough OOC schedule helps raise eyebrows but then going relatively untested over the next 9-10 games isn't a great primer.
The rest of the teams in the Patriot and to a lesser extent OVC still lack talent compared to a power conference schedule. Once you reach the playoffs, and especially after the NEC and MEAC riff raff are gone, the game speeds up, the hits are more ferocious, the athletes simply better. That's why these type of teams have historically **** the bed. They're level of competition over the entire season has simply not prepared them.
Yes, we played a tough OOC schedule and then had an easy time with the conference schedule. Can't help that the PL teams weren't very good this year. They're on the schedule and we have to play those games.
Trust me, though. We have plenty of athletes who can hit and run at this level. If you offer a kid a full ride at Fordham, you're going to get some of the best athletes available. I don't think people in other areas of the country understand how exceptional the school's reputation is in the East. I know, for example, in the US News, Fordham gets ranked about even with Syracuse, but there are few people in the New York area who would actually consider Syracuse equal to Fordham, or even that close.

Yeah. All of 3 years ago.

Yeah. All of 3 years ago.
That's an awful long time for a team that supposed to be among the elite.

Name the last time the Griz were a legitimate threat to win it all.
That was...when?
2009 for sure. We lost the championship due to shitty coaching in the second half.
No way....nova was the better team. They didn't need a blown call for the ages to beat the Griz. If that game went another 30 minutes you'd have lost by 20...nova wore you guys down.

True story, they were the better team but it does not mean the Griz weren't a THREAT...they got there didn't they? How about the UD fans ripping on Montana's relavance. When was the last time the Hens sniffed anything close.....since Flacco... in 2009- then a bunch of missed playoff appearances?

Incorrect. Montana was the better team. Just look at the stats. Mariani had over 200 yards in the first half and zero in the second. Our coaches went brain dead on O and D.

You and putter need to get your stories straight.
Of course, putter slept through the 2010 season, so you have that going for you.
BTW, nova changed their D in the second half...watch the tape. In addition, their O-line wore you guys down. There was no stopping them...finesse was out the door and physical football was destroying the lightly built Griz. The longer that game went, the more apparent it became that the Griz were physically outmanned.

The Griz lost that game because they simply played undisciplined defense against the option in the 2nd half.
But we all know what "finesse" did to CAA physicality the next year now don't we?

Bingo. Badly outcoached and couldn't contain the Polack to save our lives.

And if it had gone 20 minutes shorter we'd have won handily. What's your point?

CAA dickriders do it all the time. Each of their teams make the playoffs once in a blue moon, so in the 90% of years they DON'T make the playoffs they glom onto whatever team from their weak-ass conference that DID make the playoffs.

Says the guy who was just CERTAIN the Griz wouldn't beat the Bobcats....was just CERTAIN the Griz wouldn't get a seed over NAU...are you CERTAIN about this too? Because if so, I may lower them even further in my rankings.

About your post on if Nova had another 30 minutes, they would have WON by 20.
This is such an amateur post! You know going into the game the teams are on the field for 60 minutes. This is all, "what if", kind of of BS. Hell, last year in the 2012 semi's after being down 35-0 at the half at home, EWU outscored SHSU 42-10 in the last 30 minutes. All we needed was 3 more downs and 25 seconds for a win. Don't give me this 30 minute crap scenario when it would never exist! Talk reality, NOT fantasy. Sorry to be so abrupt. This is why teams have head coaches to manage the game. Also, I'm no real fan of the Griz, but your post was so Monday morning. Lastly, Being an EWU player parent, the Griz are probably the team you least want to face now as they are healthy and on a roll. Watch out NDSU!!
