CCU deserved the win, they played better for most of the game. However this was the worst officiating I have ever seen.
They never blew a whistle at all anywhere on the field before that play was ran either. No clue how they could have reviewed it after the fact like that.

Still, we did stupid shit right after that and threw it to the endzone on every play and turned it over on downs. Just plain stupid.

I think they reviewed the previous play for some reason. And that wiped out the Canada catch even though the other play stood as called. :?
Didn't watch the game, so I don't know, did the replay call cost the griz the game? Are you saying they would have one? AGAIN, I didn't watch the game, just saw they lost and what people are saying on here.
I've never seen the refs let is run a play, let us run another play without making any big deal (that got us down to the 2 yard line) and then go back and review the first play.

They wiped out our second play that got us into scoring position. (We didn't score after they moved us back to the 20), but it would have tied the game.

It was straight up bonkers.

The Griz had 1st and goal on the 2 and then they reviewed the play that happened BEFORE that play. It was upheld but the screen that took us to the 2 never happened, we were backed up to the 17. Griz failed to score from there. Had the ball been at the 2 we likely would have scored.
Grizza told me about that call. Sound like total bs.

One stupid criticism I've read a couple places is that the Griz could've scored points if they'd had a decent kicking game (or that UM should have kicked them).

These would've been 46-47 yard field goal attempts in 0º weather (like kicking a medicine ball, I'd imagine) with a wind in your face. You'd need Adam Vinatieri to feel even decent about your chances there. Going for it on fourth was the right call for every single one of those situations.

Here is my problem with those calls...believe it or not-because there is no way to prove either my view or your view....but it is not a stupid argument because what happens with this play calling is in the mental game. Maybe he misses both...maybe he hits one...but by going for it twice on 4th down and not getting either of them gives the other team a mental boost different than missing field goals. And yes...kicking a ball in the cold sux....but it is not impossible. The really difficult thing I had with these two play calls is that this was standard MO this year....and we got lucky in other games...hell we even tried to give the game to the Cats in this same fashion but they couldn't rally due to injuries.

We did not lose the game today based on these two calls going for it on 4th down but they sure as hell chapped my ass.....and did not help build confidence.

UM and UD's defensive coordinator's must call each other for pointers during the week.

Seriously? I've watched a lot of football, and failing on 4th. down definitely does not demoralize a team more than missing field goals. I'm guessing most offensive players would rather go for it on 4th. down every time if they were allowed to make that decision.

And Worst's chances of making those kicks were probably about 1%. :twocents:
All season, he had to kick the ball absurdly low to get any distance on it.

McGhee didn't look unstoppable. :coffee:

Seriously, though, the UM passing efficiency D was a little above average this season.

Again...no way to prove your point or mine...I was just trying to point out it wasn't a bad argument.....and nowhere did I say anything about demoralizing the Griz....I said it gave a mental boost to the other team different than missing field goals. I know that when I played, having a team kick on us was expected...but if they went for it and missed it....boosted us mentally. That was my point. And that is why that is not a dumb argument.

Sounds like Montana picked up a thing or two from Portland State. That is what we did a lot of mid-season. :ohno:

4th and 5, let's chuck it in the end zone.

McGhee was playing with a blown out knee for the last 2-3 games.

I didn't see the game, but the box score makes it look like UM was throwing all over the place.

Looking forward to another S Carolina team coming to Fargo. 3rd one in the last 2 years.

Looks like a prolific offense, well balanced. Big challenge for the Bison defense.

Don't have much choice but to throw it when you're down 42-21 going into the 4th. Johnson's INT was a huge momentum killer. :ohno:

This. Going for it on 4th there was fine with me but both times we went for the endzone instead of the first down. :ohno:
