Baseball...No More Blocking Home Plate
Baseball...No More Blocking Home Plate
Just saw where the rules committee is going to try and change the game where a base runner has to slide into home plate just like any other base. The catcher can no longer block home plate. No more collisions at home plate!
Politicians are like Diapers; they need to be changed often and for the same reason

I like it - no reason why this should be different than any other base.

You might have to take my word for this but that's OK.
You're on a date. It's getting late...1st base was very easy. In fact, one will back up and take 1st base several times before even trying to steal second.
Now 2nd base is harder. You have to pay more attention and be a little persuasive and persistent. But usually second base is within easy reach.
Now 3rd base is what separates the pro's from the minor leagues. 3rd base can be hard. Normally requires a bit of a "slide" in hand 1st.
Home base? Ha! That thing is blocked and blocked but good!
But as far as baseball, I think it's a good rule!

I don't like this one little bit. This is just like the NFL putting a skirt on the quarterback; it does NOTHING to serve the game except water it down. I've played catcher for YEARS and LIVE for plays at the plate....

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

You're still a catcher today. Just admit it...we don't judge.SuperHornet wrote:I don't like this one little bit. This is just like the NFL putting a skirt on the quarterback; it does NOTHING to serve the game except water it down. I've played catcher for YEARS and LIVE for plays at the plate....
