I'm dealing with an idiot on FB who's whining about how the officials supposedly handed a playoff spot to the Chargers. Sure, they gave the Chargers the OPPORTUNITY to clinch the bid, but to say that they gave the spot itself to SD ignores the fact that not only did SD have to drive for what turned out to be the game-winning FG (the Chiefs D COULD have forced a punt, in which case we wouldn't be having the conversation), but that under current NFL rules, a first-possession FG does NOT end the game in overtime. The Chiefs offense COULD have either scored a game-winning touchdown OR extended the game with a FG. The fact that backup QB Chase Daniel had consecutive brain farts on 3rd and 4th down at the end does NOT equate to the officials "giving the game" to the Chargers.
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
