Did the Sioux end the game on a power play? I think that happened with either North Carolina or South Carolina a few years ago when their opponents came in short handed and had too many foul out....

Fortunately despite that fact, the Lady Hornets have outscored their opponents 9 times out of 10 so far this season...and as expected the men are on the opposite side of the spectrum.

The women's game was a complete slaughter. It was 35-8 at one point and 85-45 with 4:30 to go.

Two key stats that Venus missed: we 3-bombed MSU to death, and we had a +11 pts-off-turnovers differential. Sure, with the treys, you live by the sword, and you die by the sword, but if you can consistently get that second thing going, you're going to win some games....

That was my point. If Sac doesn't force turnovers, they lose because their half-court D sucks. They'd better hope the Lady Griz have a careless game because they're one of the best teams in the nation at avoiding turnovers.

I don't know where the "Lady Griz" comes from. Aren't female bears called sows? For those attending the game tomorrow please make a note of it!

See the mascot is the Grizzlies and the females are called the Lady Grizzlies because they are ladies. Changing the name to something else would be silly. Do other schools do that?

I can think of one: Hawai'i. The male teams are known as the Rainbow Warriors, while the female teams are the Rainbow Wahines....

I believe it's actually Wahine, not Wahines. It's also just Lady Griz (no Lady Grizzlies), and the WBB team is the only UM team with that moniker—the other women's teams are just Griz/Grizzlies like the men's teams. Montana is the only school I'm aware of that has a split within the same gender like that.

Oregon State should, although it is funny to see people's expressions when you say you're going to watch the Lady Beavers. :D

In a state that goes overboard with all the PC, it is interesting that name has not been changed yet.

Hornet women lead Montana 55-52 at the half. The Lady Griz struggled to rebound against the smaller Hornets for most of the half, but improved at the end. Sac also had 1 three-pointer bank in and another 2 treys bounce high off the rim and fall in. :ohno:

Hornets win 91-81! Hornets had too much speed and the Griz couldn't hang with the pace! Griz committed 20 turnovers. This has been happening all season with taller teams, the Hornets wear them out and then take advantage of their mistakes. Hornets now 10-1/ 2-0 in the BSC!

It was a weird finish. Neither team could be stopped the first 28 minutes, then neither team could make anything in the final 12. Lady Griz blew numerous opportunities to make it even in the late-going. It was 75-68 with a full 12:00 left, and ended up 91-81. :?

Oh, well… still 18 games to go.
