Just goes to show, you don't go sleeping on that FSU QB or you wake up shocked and disoriented.

It looks like he got away scott-free again.
Auburn fought hard to hold off the FSU QB, but in the end, they lost. They should have just laid down from the beginning and saved themselves from all the physical exertion.

That's true, but the Iron Bowl was better.

It's not technically the Rose Bowl though - Michigan State won that game this year.

But yes, I always think the national title game looks better when it's played in the Rose Bowl. Just seems like it's louder, that people are right on top of the action, and it just looks like the sideline is packed with people. Shame is the Rose Bowl may not host a national title game going forward, and if they do, the earliest it could be, I think, is 2019. Jerry Jones World gets to host the game next year, and then I think the University of Phoenix is up. Just not the same. :ohno:

At least there will be a real championship in the FBS.

Btw, has anyone heard what the new divison would be called? We can't continue calling it FBS or BCS.

This year it was a real championship, unlike the years when there were three or more undefeateds left that played legitimate schedules.

But yes, four teams will be better, and I think they could move to eight to really eliminate any doubt that everyone (within reason) had a fair shot.

The College Football Playoff system will be better and I agree, a move to 8 teams can really legitimize it.

I'm glad their moving toward a playoff... and hope they expand it as quickly as they can.

But, I only remember one year where this happened -- 2004 to Auburn. Who am I forgetting? Certainly don't remeber a year with 3 teams left undefeated that played legit schedules.

I might not have it exactly right, but I think we can agree there were years when Boise St, Utah, others? should have had a seat at the table.

Hell, UCF could have an argument this year. Because we know they would be left out of a 4 team playoff.

BTW, it wasn't the FSU quarterback. It was three things:

1) Fisher calling that fake punt and it working. That was huge.

2) The guy making the TD kickoff return late.

3) The guy who caught a short pass on FSU's last drive and turned it into a 49 yard catch and run.

The FSU quarterback did not really stand out. He showed no ability to really hurt Auburn downfield at all. He had a pretty pedestrian game. It was those three things...the call by Fisher on the fake punt and the two big plays by the kickoff returner and the receiver...that made that game for Florida State.

That and Auburn failing to close on a number of opportunities to put Florida State away.

After watching that game I'd say it's not likely that Florida State would've been there if they'd played an SEC schedule. Possible but not likely. They weren't that good.

Of course it was unlikely that Auburn would've been there too and they got there thanks to kind of a miraculous sequence of events.

In the end though it might have been the best BCS championship game. The best may have been saved for last.

4. You forgot the INT.
5. Auburn's narrowly missed 33 yd FG
6. And even back on the opening possession of the 1st qtr the Auburn receiver dropping the wide open pass down the middle and Auburn ended up having to punt.

Auburn blew numerous chances to win the game.

FSU's 1st 3 TDs came after:
-Fake punt
-INT in Auburn territory
-KO return
Only their game winning TD was a length of the field drive.

SEC NC streak ends at 7
State of Alabama NC streak ends at 4.

Special teams and TOs are part of the game, and Auburn needed multiple miracles to even be there. FSU was the better team.

Yep. After spotting them a 21-3 lead, Florida dominated that game.
